Golf great Jack Nicklaus has come to the defense of Tiger Woods. The 86-year-old expressed concern for the former World No.1 golfer and claimed that he probably needs some help following his recent car crash and DUI arrest.
Woods has been in the spotlight since last Friday after he was involved in a rollover crash near his residence in Jupiter, Florida. His SUV would flip over on the road after he swerved away in an attempt to avoid collision with a cleaner truck.
During the investigation, two white pills, later identified as hydrocodone, were found in his pocket. The PGA Tour star was “sweating profusely” after his crash.
While he blew 0.00 on an alcohol breathalyzer, he refused to undergo urinalysis. He was thus arrested and booked under charges of DUI, property damage and refusal to submit. Around 8 hours later, he was released on bail.

Amid the unrest on social media, Jack Nicklaus extended his support to Woods. The 18-time major champion, who is a close friend of Woods and resides close to him, claimed that the golfer would not be taking painkillers if he did not need them.
Sometimes you get, you know, too far down the line and you just need somebody to help you. I think he probably needs some help. … Obviously I feel bad for Tiger. I like Tiger. I don’t just like him, I like him a lot. … I don’t think he’d be taking them if he didn’t need them.

In 2021, Woods was involved in a major car crash outside of Los Angeles, California. This left him with severe lower-body injuries. He underwent several surgeries and has since struggled in his attempts to get his golf career back on track.
Since this incident, Woods has made just 11 starts on the PGA Tour. His last competitive golf action came at the 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon, where he missed the cut with a 14-over par score.
Tiger Woods’ private jet reportedly lands in Zurich
After Tiger Woods announced a hiatus from golf, he was permitted to fly abroad for treatment. His private jet has now reportedly landed in Zurich, Switzerland.

While the golfer pleaded not guilty in his DUI arrest case and demanded a fair trial, he sought permission to leave the United States and get treated abroad due to privacy concerns. A federal judge in Florida would approve this.
According to reports from TMZ, Woods’ private jet landed in Zurich on Friday. The city is known for several rehab facilities which are extremely exclusive, private and expensive.

Obviously, Woods will not be at the Masters next week. It remains unclear how long he will be away from golf after this incident.
