It was not the best of nights for Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday. After a spectacular performance in Game 1, Wembanyama had a subpar performance in Game 2 by his standards.

After trailing by 11 points at halftime, the Spurs played with more aggression in the third quarter. In the end, it was not enough as they succumbed to a 122-113 defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Paycom Center. The loss saw the Thunder level the series at 1-1.

After the loss, Wembanyama cut a frustrated figure while speaking to the media.

I would say its about spending so much energy on catching up to the score and letting it go away. We need some poise for sure, taking care of the ball and helping the main ball-handlers and being aggressive.

Victor Wembanyama may not have been at his dominant best in Game 2, but he still registered another double-double to his name. He recorded 21 points, 17 rebounds, six assists, and four blocks in a little over 37 minutes of playing time. It was a considerable drop after his game-winning performance in Game 1.

Reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way for the defending champions with a game-high 30 points. The Spurs struggled to contain the Canadian as they did in Game 1.

Prior to the series, there was a lot of spotlight on the two superstars. SGA won his second consecutive MVP award for his performances this season, while the French star has undoubtedly established himself as the best two-way player in the league.

Wembanyama was unstoppable in Game 1, and SGA returned the favor in Game 2 in what was a must-win game for the Thunder. There is still a lot to play for in what is proving to be a thrilling Western Conference Final.

No team will ever win another championship if Victor Wembanyama stays healthy

There is no doubt that Victor Wembanyama is destined for greatness. His ceiling is off the charts. Barring any injuries that could derail his career, Wembanyama is touted to dominate the league for years to come.

Sports analyst Max Kellerman believes that Wembanyama will win every championship in the years to come if he is healthy.

If he stays healthy, pack it up everybody! The time to win a championship was try and load up this year and do something. If Wemby stays healthy, no one is winning anything, FOREVER!

Wembanyama is playing in his first-ever playoffs this year. He has already put in some historic performances and broken a few records along the way. If these are the signs of things to come, then Kellerman’s statements about the Frenchman may prove to be true.

OKC and the Spurs will dominate the league for the next 5-7 years

The Thunder and the Spurs were the top two teams in the Western Conference this season. The Spurs were the only team in the league to have a winning record against the defending champions. They played five times in the regular season, and the Spurs came out on top in four of those games, including the semifinals of the 2025 NBA Cup.

After an enthralling Game 2, five-time NBA champion Magic Johnson believes that the two sides are going to dominate the Western Conference for the next five to seven years.

I hate to break the news to the rest of the Western Conference, but they may not have a chance to win the Western Conference Finals for the next 5-7 years. The Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs are just that good! They are talented, deep, athletic and both teams are well coached.

It was a Western Conference Final matchup that everyone was hoping for, and it has more than just delivered after the first two games. The Spurs have a slight advantage after winning Game 1 on the road. With Games 3 and 4 taking place in San Antonio, the Thunder will be looking to regain their home-court advantage.
