- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder to a 122-113 victory, scoring a game-high 30 points.
Television personality and sports analyst, Skip Bayless, was at a bit of a crossroads before the start of the Western Conference Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs. The popular journalist has been a longtime supporter of the Spurs, but Oklahoma is his hometown.
This has caused a deep conflict for Bayless, but ultimately, he has decided to side with his hometown club. With every passing game, the tensions and physicality are getting more intense in this series.
After a thrilling Game 1, the Thunder bounced back from their loss and secured a 122-113 victory over the Spurs at the Paycom Center on Wednesday night. It was another tight match that saw Shai Gilgeous-Alexander step up when it mattered in crunch time.
However, there have been questions regarding the officiating in Game 2. Bayless took to social media to voice his concerns about the game’s officiating.
I’m starting to think this is rigged.

I'm starting to think this is rigged.

Many have expressed their concerns about the refereeing during the playoffs this year. The majority of those concerns were in games involving the defending champions. Dillon Brooks was critical of the officials when the Phoenix Suns took on the Thunder in the first round. Similarly, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers were seen confronting the referees after a game.
Now, it looks like Skip Bayless was left frustrated as well after the game. However, unlike most of the NBA fans, Bayless’ post on X meant that it was “rigged” for the Spurs. He was posting throughout the game, and in one of the posts, he claimed that Victor Wembanyama gets every call because he is the face of the league. Bayless’ opinions are a stark contrast compared to the majority.
Skip Bayless receives backlash for suggesting that Game 2 was “rigged” for the Spurs
This is not the first time that Skip Bayless has made a controversial statement. Bayless is well known for his wild and outrageous takes. While many praised the officiating in Game 1, the praises turned to criticism for Game 2.
Bayless’ post received backlash on social media as many believe the decisions often go in favor of the Thunder.
Are you talking about the fact that sga flopped on every single shot he took tonight?

Fans were bemused by his statement about the game being rigged for the Spurs. He was called out for his take, while some highlighted the fouls committed by the Thunder and how they got away with it.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander came up big in Game 2
There was a lot of chatter after Game 1 that Victor Wembanyama is now the best player in the world. The French star put in a monster performance in Game 1 and was fueled after seeing Shai Gilgeous-Alexander awarded the MVP trophy.
SGA had a quiet scoring night in Game 1, but he was back to his MVP form in Game 2. The reigning MVP led the scorers with a game-high 30 points to go along with four rebounds, nine assists, and two blocks. He was a presence on both ends of the court on Wednesday.

He was efficient from the field as he shot at 50% and committed just one turnover against the best defensive team in the playoffs. It was a huge performance in a must-win game for the Thunder.
There is still a lot to play for in this series. With the series now level at 1-1, the Thunder will be hoping to win at least one of the next two games in San Antonio. The home-court advantage is with the Spurs now and the Thunder will need another masterclass from their star guard.
