Packers Fan Feels Vikings Won’t Win a Super Bowl in His Lifetime
Packers fan and producer of the Pat McAfee Show, Ty Schmit says the Vikings' inability to solve the quarterback problem is the main reason they can't win a Super Bowl.

- The Minnesota Vikings signed Kyler Murray to compete with JJ McCarthy for the starting quarterback position.
- Ty Schmit, a Packers fan, believes the Vikings will not win a Super Bowl in his lifetime due to poor quarterback evaluations.
- The Vikings have never won a Super Bowl, losing four appearances between 1969 and 1976.
The Minnesota Vikings signed Kyler Murray to compete for the starting quarterback position with JJ McCarthy. But Ty Schmit believes the Vikings already know that Murray is going to start in week one.
Schmidt, a staunch Green Bay Packers fan from Iowa and one of the three producers of The Pat McAfee Show, isn’t sold on McCarthy and also the Vikings themselves. Minnesota ditched Sam Darnold, who delivered a 14-3 season for McCarthy. The Michigan alum struggled so much that Kevin O’Connell had to bench him for journeyman Carson Wentz.
If McCarthy was the answer to the Vikings’ problems, then why sign Murray? Failure to properly evaluate a quarterback has been an issue for the Vikings for a while, and McCarthy is just the latest case. And that’s why Ty Schmit, 35, believes the Vikings will not win a Super Bowl anytime soon.
I think it’s already been written in time. Listen, I hope that Kyler Murray is good this year, but I don’t think the [Minnesota] Vikings are gonna win a Super Bowl in my lifetime.

The Vikings are among the unfortunate group of NFL teams to have never tasted Super Bowl glory. From 1969 to 1976, the Vikings played in four Super Bowls, losing all of them. Legendary Fran Tarkenton (the Vikings’ first-ever NFL quarterback) led the team to three finals appearances within a span of four years.

The Vikings last played in the NFC Championship game in 2017. They were blown out 38-7 by Nick Foles and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Can the Vikings win a Super Bowl with Kyler Murray and JJ McCarthy as quarterbacks?
The Vikings drafted McCarthy in the first round even though, in specialists’ eyes, he was a late second-rounder. His former college coach, Jim Harbaugh, sold the NFL the dream that McCarthy is the best QB in the draft, which included Bo Nix, Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye.

McCarthy spent his rookie season in rehab, opening the door for former Jets, Panthers, and 49ers quarterback Darnold to claim the vacant starting job. Minnesota nearly won the NFC North, finishing second with 13 wins. They were knocked out in the wildcard round.
Despite Darnold’s remarkable season, the Vikings put their faith in McCarthy. They even passed over the chance to sign four-time MVP and Super Bowl winner, Aaron Rodgers. That decision backfired as McCarthy completed just 57.6% of his passes, threw more interceptions than touchdowns, and suffered multiple injuries.
They have been through all the trials and tribulations up to this point. They haven’t gotten it done. You just don’t do that. You don’t right off a guy [McCarthy] like that and immediately, and I am talking immediately, blow up on your face. Usually, it’s a couple of years, didn’t work out, we have to do something else.

A similar trend can be seen in Carolina with Bryce Young. But the Panthers still believe in him. Why can’t the Vikings have the same level of belief in McCarthy?
Every year with this guy already it’s like ‘Jesus Christ, we gotta go get [Aaron] Rodgers or we gotta go get [Kyler] Murray’… They [the Vikings] haven’t publicly said it yet, but it’s like ‘[expletive] this guy, we are done with this guy‘.

Fans call out JJ McCarthy for sounding off on Kyler Murray
On Wednesday, reporters asked McCarthy to explain his relationship with Murray.
It’s just like two guys in a classroom. He sits on one side. I sit on the other side. And it’s the coaches’ responsibility to teach us and coach us.

The 23-year-old’s reaction did not sit well with fans on social media, who called him out immediately. He’s entering the third year of his rookie contract.
