Bryson DeChambeau missed the cut once again. On Friday, the 2-time major champion set an unwanted career record as he failed to secure his status for the weekend by finishing 5-over par at the 2026 U.S. Open.

The LIV Golf star has been on a mixed run of form this year. While he has won twice on the LIV circuit and has some top-10 finishes, he has struggled on the PGA Tour.

A month ago, he missed the cut at the PGA Championship with a 7-over par score. This was the second straight major where he missed the cut, having failed at the Masters Tournament in April as well.

So the pressure was on him to deliver. In the opening round, he fired an even par score of 70 with 3 birdies and 5 bogeys. On Friday, things got off to a poor start for him.

After pars on Holes 1 and 2, he made a double bogey on Holes 3 and 4. After a birdie on the 5th hole, he carded another bogey on the 6th. A birdie on the 8th hole saw him wrap up an eventful front nine with a 3-over score.

There was no major improvement for DeChambeau on the back nine. Bogeys on par-4 13th and 15th holes saw him go 5-over par. After a birdie on the 16th, he made another bogey on the 17th and finished his round with a score of 5-over 75.

The cutline was later revealed to be 4-over par. DeChambeau was 5-over par, meaning that he missed the cut at the 2026 U.S. Open by one shot. He also ended up setting an unwanted career record.

This marks the first time in his career that he has missed the cut in 3 straight majors. The last time he missed two straight cuts in the majors before this year was in 2017. He had never missed 3 in a row.

This also marks the second successive year that he has missed the cut at the U.S. Open. Last year, he entered this tournament as the defending champion, having defeated Rory McIlroy by 1-shot in the 2024 edition.

Bryson DeChambeau recently claimed he had not shown up at the majors

Bryson DeChambeau has now missed the cut in 3 successive major championships. This has left some fans concerned. However, the golfer recently claimed that he was unbothered by this form and expressed that he had not shown up at the majors.

The Crushers GC captain entered the Masters Tournament on the back of successive wins at LIV Golf. With him achieving his best finish in this major last year, there were heavy expectations on his shoulders.

The golfer did not have a good time at the Augusta National and was among several elite names to miss the cut. A month later, he had to take an early exit once again as he stumbled at the PGA Championship.

Before the U.S. Open, DeChambeau finished T11 at LIV Golf Andalucia in Valderrama. Following this event, he claimed that he had played well this year.

No. To be honest, missed cuts are gonna happen. I might miss all 4 of them in majors this year. That’s just golf. Like, I’m playing great. I just haven’t shown up when it mattered most.

Bryson DeChambeau said as per Flushing It Golf

Last season, DeChambeau had a completely different form at the majors. Following a T5 finish at the Masters, he finished as the runner-up once again at the PGA Championship.

After missing the cut at the U.S. Open, he had a poor first round at the Open Championship. However, he managed to bounce back and finish T10. This strong showing helped him automatically qualify for the Ryder Cup.

Now the golfer faces the aspect of missing all 4 majors this season. His next start will be at the 154th Open Championship next month at Royal Birkdale in the United Kingdom. This event is scheduled before LIV Golf’s next event, which is also in the UK.
