Analytics Ranking Jaylen Brown 7th Best Player on Celtics Angers Paul Pierce: “It Sounds Silly”
Jaylen Brown has been getting criticism from all across the spectrum ever since he mentioned how this past season was his 'favorite.'

Other than the usual trade rumors swirling around Jaylen Brown, what others think of him has suddenly become a matter of extreme importance.
It is true that the internet does not respond kindly to highly opinionated individuals. Just ask Kevin Durant, who has been on hiatus from social media ever since his burner account allegations came to light.
The Boston Celtics star is not in the same realm as the two-time champion, particularly when it comes to using his wit to respond and shut down trolls. Instead, he uses his intelligence and facts to do so.
First, it landed him in the crosshairs of the ESPN duo, Stephen A. Smith and Kendrick Perkins. It started ever since Brown appeared on a live stream after the Celtics’ first-round exit, and it still continues to date.
Even his father had to step in and send a warning to both Smith and Perkins over bad-mouthing his son. But before that came into effect, Stephen A. Smith did side with Jaylen Brown after an analytical report came to light suggesting he was the seventh best player on the Celtics.
I just feel like it’s clickbait… Because it sounds silly. Jaylen Brown was an MVP candidate. Now you’re saying, uh, does he do the things that Luka and Wemby?… Yeah, the stats on these guys going to look a little different, but there’s one thing you can say about Jaylen Brown, he influences winning.

Paul Pierce on the comments saying Jaylen Brown analytics wise he’s the 7th best player on the Celtics:

“I mean this is getting ridiculous. It’s gotten to the point where I’m no longer going to start watching any of the networks about sports. Like seriously this is just come on.… pic.twitter.com/0rWyfc1T1n
Paul Pierce made it clear that even though analytics looks at things differently, when the 29-year-old guard is done playing, he will be a Top-100 player of all-time, just because of how good he is.
Patrick Beverley as Celtics GM prefers Jaylen Brown over Jayson Tatum
While others are still debating why there is an emphasis on listening to analytics when there has been enough proof that it does not equate to winning, another former player took a different route to explaining why the Celtics keeping Jaylen Brown makes sense.

He cold. If I’m GM, I’m picking him, I’m keeping him… A person who’s coming off an Achilles injury vs a person who just took my team to the second seed, maybe I’m not hearing it right? Is the question wrong?
Patrick Beverley said
The 37-year-old may have had some wild opinions in the past, but this time used logic to explain his decision. He believes that last season was enough proof of how good the California Golden Bears alum is.
Patrick Beverley says if he was the GM of the Celtics he would chose Jaylen Brown over Jayson Tatum:

For someone to lead a Celtics team, down two of their championship-winning starters and the team’s leading scorer, to second place in the East was no easy feat.
Beverley pointed out how that alone elevates Jaylen Brown over Jayson Tatum. Then, when one factors in the latter’s Achilles injury, it becomes a no-brainer for him.
Jaylen Brown likes fan post asking Celtics to trade to a team that respects him
After the Boston Celtics tried to trade Jaylen Brown in the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes, rumors have it that the franchise is still hunting for a team to offload the guard.
With several teams rumored to be linked, it seems he can land anywhere before the 2026-27 season starts. But one fan comment seems to have caught his interest.
Man, as a person who can’t stand the Celtics, I hope they do right by him by trading him to a city who respects him.

This means that Brown is acutely aware of the fact that his team is looking to offload him. The only thing he prefers is that they send him to a team and a city that would not disrespect him. This means a move could be on the cards soon.
