Lionel Messi once again stole the show as he came off the bench against Jordan in the final Group J game and scored a free-kick goal. 2-time golf major champion Bryson DeChambeau was left awestruck by the Argentinian superstar.
Following a hat-trick against Algeria in the opening group game, Messi scripted history in the match against Austria in the second game. After missing a penalty in the 9th minute, the Inter Miami CF star struck in the 38th minute and went past Miroslav Klose for the most goals in World Cup history.
He scored again in second-half injury time to help his country seal a 2-0 win. With 2 wins out of the first 2 games, the reigning World champions were through to the knockout stage. As a result of this, their captain did not start the final group game.
Around 70,000 people were present at the Dallas Stadium in Arlington, Texas, as debutants Jordan took on Argentina. Among those who attended the game was Bryson DeChambeau.
With no LIV Golf event until the Open Championship in July, the American had some free time on his hands. He would make his way to the stadium and was seen enjoying the game. He was then left awestruck by Messi.
As Argentina led 2-1 with goals from Giovani Lo Celso and Lautaro Martinez, Messi came on as a second-half substitute. He replaced Martinez at the 60th-minute mark and entered the field to huge cheers from the supporters.
In the 80th minute, he found the back of the net again. A well-worked free-kick saw the former FC Barcelona superstar wrap a low strike into the net with goalkeeper Yazeed Abulaila remaining motionless at the goal line.
Argentina ran out as 3-1 winners as Messi scored his 6th goal of this World Cup. They finished the group stage with 3 wins, scoring 8 goals and conceding just once.
On Monday, DeChambeau took to his Instagram account and shared his reactions. In one post, he shared several pictures and called watching Messi score in a World Cup match a “10/10 experience.”

Bryson DeChambeau opens up about his game after missing 3 straight cuts at major championships
Bryson DeChambeau has not been at his best at the major championships this year. Last week, he missed a 3rd straight cut at the major events following another disappointing performance at the U.S. Open. Recently, he opened up about his game on his YouTube channel.

The year started well for the golfer, and he claimed back-to-back playoff wins at LIV Golf before heading to the Masters Tournament. Following a T5 finish at Augusta National last year, he was hoping this would be the year he finally got his hands on the green jacket.
Unfortunately for him, that did not happen. After an opening round score of 76, he missed the cut following a triple bogey on the 18th hole in the second round, which saw him go from 3-over par to 6-over par.
Things did not improve for him at the PGA Championship in May. He once again shot 76 in the first round, leaving him in a dire situation. Despite a score of 71 in the second round, he missed the cut by 3 shots.
At the U.S. Open in Shinnecock Hills, he posted a round of 70 on Thursday and seemed to have found his rhythm again in the majors. However, a score of 75 on Friday saw him miss the cutline by 1-shot and head home early again.

This was the first time in his career that he missed the cut in 3 successive majors. In a video for his YouTube channel, he opened up about these disappointments. He expressed that he had not played “good enough golf” in the majors this season.
Not good enough golf. We could say it’s unlucky, we could say bad judgment, we could say bad swings and all that, but ultimately it comes down to me making better decisions.

Last year, DeChambeau was one of the best performers in the majors. Apart from a T5 finish at the Masters, he finished as a runner-up at the PGA Championship and made an incredible comeback at the Open Championship to finish T10. He did miss the cut at the U.S. Open while being the defending champion.
Those strong showings helped the LIV Golf star automatically qualify for the Ryder Cup despite having fewer chances to earn qualification points. Now he will be hoping to avoid setting another unwanted record of missing the cut in all 4 majors in a year.
