This week will mark a historic moment for the Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR), as it is set to have the series’ first overseas race in five decades. They will be part of the event hosted at the iconic Le Mans track, Circuit de la Sarthe. 2004 Cup champion Kurt Busch is set to start in the Goodyear backed race and is determined to use this as an opportunity to pay tribute his late brother Kyle Busch.

The two times Cup champion passed away last month after getting hospitalized for severe pneumonia. The ex-23XI Racing driver is hoping that he would have his late young brother riding alongside him in 2020 No. 1 Monster Energy Chevrolet Camaro, that he raced in between 2019-2021 with Chip Ganassi Racing, in the event.

I said a couple of weeks ago that Kyle’s ‘spirit will always ride with me,’ and the first time will be on one of the greatest tracks in the world this weekend.

Kurt Busch said about LeMans entry.

Further talking about the point, Kurt Busch admitted that he is still finding it hard to cope with the fact that he lost his young brother at the age of 41. He would have loved to have Kyle Busch racing alongside him or cheering for him from the stands with the family at Le Mans. The veteran wants to pay his respect for his brother by winning the event.

It is still incomprehensible to think he is gone, not suiting up for the next race as he did for nearly his entire life, but Kyle would have loved to have been right there racing alongside me and our friends at Le Mans. It would be great to make it a fitting tribute with a win for him in full Kyle style.

It’s been so much fun. Just even just pulling in the gates and the memories from Road Atlanta and testing here a lot with our NASCAR cars. Seeing all of the other divisions there just makes me proud of everyone. All of the cars that people are keeping up and putting quality efforts into racing them in all of the different divisions. It makes you feel like a kid again when you see them all out there.

Kurt Busch said.

Later talking about the event, he highlighted camaraderie on and off the track, as it felt like fraternity house. One key challenge for Busch and everyone in the community is the fact that the difference in trac experience among the driver would put everyone involved in a tough spot.

With the group here, it’s a fun camaraderie. This is definitely a fraternity house feel because you have guys with a ton of experience and then some that don’t but are wanting to learn. It’s like, I can take my GPS system and let the guy look at it and show him how to get around the track a little better. We’re all headed to Le Mans kind of blindfolded.

Kurt Busch added.

The comments from the veteran racer are on point and shows how he is excited about the exciting weekend ahead. It would be interesting to see how if Busch can win the race and pays the ultimate tribute his brother.
