WWE will return to the world’s most famous arena for Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 18. The company had some big plans for the show’s cover star Danhausen. As noted on WrestleVotes Radio via Fightful Select, WWE was possibly looking into getting Jalen Brunson involved with the quirky WWE star.

However, with Brunson undergoing surgery on his left wrist, those plans were said to be shelved. The hope right now within WWE is for the Knicks skipper to at least attend the event and make an on-screen appearance. Had the plans not fallen through, it’d have made up for a highly sought-after crossover moment between Danhausen and Brunson.

It’s fascinating how the New York Knicks went on to become the 2026 NBA Champions after getting uncursed by Danhausen. The former AEW star didn’t take all the credit and iterated that it was a team effort. The self-proclaimed WWE legend, however, came up with several of his demands, which included having a victory parade of his own.

The 35-year-old is expected to get a huge reaction at Saturday Night’s Main Event for his role in the Knicks’ title-winning journey this year. Danhausen will go one-on-one with the Judgment Day‘s JD McDonagh in what will be their first time having a singles match at MSG.

Danhausen has caused problems for the Judgment Day in recent weeks. It started with him refusing to curse Oba Femi for Dominik Mysterio. The superstar having a face paint also stole $100,000 from Mysterio and McDonagh and would later curse the ‘Irish Ace’ for threatening to return their money.

Danhausen is undefeated thus far in WWE, and he would like to keep it that way. And it seems he has secured a backup. Danhausen spoke with someone over the phone on last week’s SmackDown and said he’d explain the whole plan to him. He specifically mentioned that his caller was from New York. The fans are convinced that it would be none other than Jalen Brunson.

What else is on tap for WWE Satrurday Night’s Main Event at MSG?

This past Friday on SmackDown, GM Nick Aldis announced a big-time tag team match for Saturday Night’s Main Event. It’ll see the Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk joining forces with his challenger at SummerSlam, Cody Rhodes, to take on the belligerent duo of Gunther and Sami Zayn.

‘The Last Real Good Guy’ was absent from SmackDown as he needed a mental break after having his world title reign ended by Punk in just 9 days. Aldis affirmed that Zayn wanted to get his hands on both Punk and Rhodes as much as Gunther did, so the SmackDown general manager scheduled a tag team match to put all four of them in the ring at the same time.

‘The Ring General’ absolutely hated the decision, as he wanted to get added to the WWE Championship match at SummerSlam instead. Gunther eventually snapped and assaulted Aldis to end the show. Rhodes came out to make the save afterwards and even asked the Austrian to get in the ring with him for a match, but the ‘Career Killer’ walked away.

Another match that’s been made official by WWE for SNME is Paige and Brie Bella putting the women’s tag team titles on the line against Lainey Reid and Fallon Henley of the Fatal Influence. Could this be where the title changes hands?

It might be the new comers’ turn to put some gold around their waists. With just a week remaining until showtime, WWE is expected to add at least one more match to the card, if not two.
