IShowSpeed urged Spain footballer Lamine Yamal to defeat Argentina in the FIFA World Cup 2026 final after Lionel Messi’s side secured its place in the championship match.

During a livestream on July 15, 2026, the popular streamer, whose real name is Darren Watkins Jr., addressed Yamal directly while reacting to the upcoming final between Spain and Argentina. Speed, a longtime Cristiano Ronaldo supporter, said another World Cup title for Messi would make it difficult for Ronaldo fans to continue the long running debate over the two football icons.

He pleaded with the Spanish teenager to help stop Argentina from winning back to back World Cup titles.

Por favor, Lamine. Por favor! Lock in, brother! That’s my message. Don’t play, Lamine. Just go! Just win! Win against Argentina in the World Cup final, Lamine! Please! Please, Lamine! Save me, Lamine Yamal! Save me! Save me from disaster! I can’t deal with this another year. If Messi wins the World Cup again, I don’t know what I can say as a Ronaldo fan. I can’t say anything. I can’t say nothing! So, Lamine Yamal, save us Ronaldo fans!

The comments quickly circulated across social media as football fans reacted to Speed’s emotional appeal before one of the biggest matches of the tournament.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 final will feature Spain against defending champions Argentina after both teams advanced through the knockout rounds. Messi is aiming to lead Argentina to another World Cup triumph, while Spain will look to prevent the South American side from retaining the title.

Speed is also scheduled to appear during the FIFA World Cup 2026 closing ceremony. He is expected to feature alongside Tom Cruise, Robbie Williams, Laura Pausini, and Nicole Scherzinger as part of the event’s entertainment lineup.

IShowSpeed previously claimed he distracted Lionel Messi during the World Cup penalty miss

IShowSpeed’s latest comments came just days after another viral World Cup moment involving the streamer and Lionel Messi.

During Argentina’s World Cup match against Egypt on July 7, Speed attended the game and livestreamed from the stadium. Moments before Messi took a penalty, Speed attempted to get the Argentine captain’s attention from the stands.

“Messi, look at me! Yes, right here! Right here!” After Messi missed the penalty, Speed reacted with surprise before suggesting he may have played a role in the miss. “It worked? I distracted Messi!”

The moment sparked widespread discussion on social media, with some fans joking that Speed’s shouting influenced the penalty. However, no evidence established that the streamer affected the outcome. Messi had also missed another penalty earlier during the tournament, and there has been no indication from the player or tournament officials linking the miss to the incident.

The World Cup final between Spain and Argentina will now determine whether Messi adds another title to his international career or Spain lifts the trophy for the first time since 2010.
