Spire Motorsports youngster Carson Hocevar has been making the headlines for all the wring reasons the last two weeks. His beef with Zane Smith, the NASCAR hauler meeting and bold statements afterwards made many in the community to call his out. At the same time there were a few NASCAR personals that came to his support and Chase Elliott was one of them.

On his most recent appearance on the Racin’ with the Boys podcast, 2020 Cup Series champion highlighted how he is one of the few drivers in the garage that actually don’t have an issue with the No:77 Chevy on the track. There were times in his rookie year where the Spire driver racers the No:9 Chevy hard, but things have changed now.

It’s kind of funny you ask. I know he’s been a hot topic here lately, but I have no issues with him. I really don’t. And you know, he’s a guy that has raced me hard, and there’s been a couple of times I felt like maybe right around his rookie year that he kind of rubbed me the wrong way a couple of times.

Chase Elliott said recently.

The HMS driver highlighted how things changed with his and Carson Hocevar once they had a respectful conversation following their runs earlier. Chase Elliott asserted that his Chevy teammate always been respectful to him, even when they are racing hard and has stopped from making any stupid moves against him.

I do remember having a couple of conversations with him there early on, respectfully, just the best I knew how. And ever since then, we have been totally good. And I feel like he always treats me with a lot of respect on track. He races hard, but I’m okay with that, unless he’s running me in the fence or crashing me or something stupid, but I’m kind of good right now.

Further talking about the point, the veteran asserted that the positive relationship they have can change in the future, considering it’s hard to predict how Hocevar is going to race, but at the moment, everything is good. The dynamic between the two is much different from any other driver in the garage.

So subject to change. I mean, you never know what’s going to happen next week, but I feel like he’s given me quite a lot of respect really ever since those early on incidents that I wouldn’t even say incidents, but just conversations we had, just kind of racers talking back and forth. I wish I had something juicier and better to give you, but I don’t; We’ve kind of been good. So, I have no issue right now.

Chase Elliott asserted.

It’s a great stop on our schedule. Really, really happy to have it back. Happy to see a racetrack saved that was likely going away. And I think it’ll be really cool for the people around that area, and also those that are going to travel in, to watch a race there. Great environment, great vibe. So, I’m looking forward to it.

The race is going to exciting and a potential duel between Elliott & Hocevar might make it more noteworthy. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the star drivers next week and the remaining five races of the regular season.
