While LeBron James has grabbed the headlines till his move to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Miami Heat kickstarted the offseason by acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo in a blockbuster trade. The move saw Antetokounmpo join forces with Bam Adebayo in the frontcourt for the Heat.

The Heat had a very subpar 2025-26 campaign. After getting clean-swept in the first round of the playoffs last year, Miami missed the playoffs this year after finishing in the Play-In Tournament spots. Their season came to an end when they were beaten by the Charlotte Hornets in the first game.

The disappointing campaign meant that changes were needed, and Pat Riley wasted no time in going for the big fish. The move is a sign that the Heat are looking to contend in the Eastern Conference next season.

In a video posted by Antetokounmpo on his YouTube page, the Greek star was seen inviting Adebayo to Greece along with his “wife” in A’ja Wilson. Antetokounmpo embraced Adebayo and invited him to come to his home country.

Let me know if you want to come to Greece with me to get in the gym. Come to Greece.

The Heat center responded that he is not by himself:

Ima try to come. Now I’m not by myself.

Antetokounmpo’s reply got everyone laughing.

No, I know. Come to Greece with your wife. Your wife, sorry. I don’t know if you’re married.

It looks like Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo have already formed chemistry off the court. After becoming teammates, Adebayo took the two-time MVP to a WNBA game featuring his partner, A’ja Wilson. Antetokounmpo was unaware of whether the power couple was married or not.

A trade for Antetokounmpo is the best way to kick off championship aspirations for any franchise. It is expected that more changes will be made in the roster as the Heat front office builds the team around their two big men.

Marriage is in the works for Bam Adebayo and A’ja Wilson

Antetokounmpo was seen training in Greece over the last few weeks. While Adebayo and Wilson are not married yet, it will not be possible to bring her to Greece as she is in the middle of her WNBA season. She is just coming off her eighth All-Star appearance two days ago.

In a recent interview, Adebayo was asked if he approached Wilson’s father for her hand in marriage.

100%. That was the most terrifying question I had to ask them. And I was like ‘Would it be cool if I married your daughter?’ I ain’t gonna lie, I had to go to the bathroom and cry a little bit.

Giannis Antetokounmpo on leaving the Milwaukee Bucks

Giannis Antetokounmpo will go down as the greatest player to ever play for the Milwaukee Bucks. He was drafted by the Bucks as the 15th pick in 2013 and spent 13 seasons there. During his time in Milwaukee, he broke several franchise records and delivered them their first championship in 50 years in 2021.

The ‘Greek Freak’ got emotional when he watched a video of Bucks fans showing gratitude to him.

Doesn’t matter where I am. Obviously I have a new chapter ahead of me with the Miami Heat and I’m going to make the best of it… don’t cry because it’s over, laugh and smile because it happened. — You never know in life, maybe our roads meet again. But for now, Lets f*cking go and win a championship.

Antetokounmpo did not want to waste the prime years of his career in Milwaukee as the Bucks struggled to build a championship-contending roster around him. He wanted a better opportunity to compete for a title and there is no doubt that the 31-year-old will be locked for the Heat next season.
