Brian Windhorst Slams Charles Barkley’s LeBron James Joining Stacked Teams Comment
Charles Barkley has been criticizing LeBron James' decision to join the Philadelphia 76ers even before the latter announced it.

Before LeBron James made his decision, the likes of Brian Windhorst and other analysts were busy discussing his fit with each team. Once it was announced that he was joining the Philadelphia 76ers, the narrative shifted when Charles Barkley led the charge of labeling this as another ‘stacked team.’
The Round Mound of Rebound had an advantage, as he was one of the first to react to this news. He was about to go and play golf on Friday afternoon, when most of the television shows and podcasts had completed their broadcasts.
He took the opportunity to make it clear that he was unhappy about the King moving to another superteam. Barkley labeled it as ‘cheating’ and pointed out that he may not have had those thoughts had James signed with the Cavaliers.
Do they want him to go to the G League? Because if he went to Cleveland is that team stacked? Is Miami with Bam Adebayo and Giannis Antetokounmpo is that team stacked? Jokic and Jamal Murray is that team stacked? Ant Edwards, Rudy Gobert I don’t know he left Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves is that not? I don’t understand the premise of the complaint.

This was the longtime senior writer calling out Barkley and other ‘hating’ old heads who have been creating narratives on James for a long time. Windhorst questioned whether their opinion would have actually changed had the superstar signed with any of the teams that were interested in him.
Brian Windhorst continues to slam ‘old heads’ on their complaints about LeBron James
Before calling out Charles Barkley, Brian Windhorst first laid out the specifics on how these ‘old heads’ should not be complaining when LeBron James has done something no other player has done before.

This is a one-off moment in the history of the league. We’ve never seen a player ever say the following things. I don’t care about money, I don’t care about my family. He doesn’t even… apparently care about the city because he doesn’t seem like he’s going to be living in Philadelphia full-time… So, this is a – I don’t even know how to frame it, because really truly unbelievable.

The ESPN analyst believes that the four-time champion has sacrificed a lot to move to Philadelphia. Be it money, his family, or even his thriving businesses in LA, just so that he can compete.
Brian Windhorst says the whole thing about LeBron James joining the Sixers is outrageous:

For these seemingly ‘jealous’ old heads to be criticizing this move to the 76ers is uncalled for, as none of them have done anything remotely close to what the league’s all-time leading scorer has done.
Brian Windhorst calls out ESPN colleague dismissing LeBron James-76ers’ title chances
After his stint on Get Up, Brian Windhorst appeared on First Take, where host Courtney Cronin asked him what he thought of Michael Wilbon dismissing the 76ers’ chances to win the title this year with LeBron James on their team.
I know that’s not what you’re supposed to say, you’re supposed to say somebody gets on this side. ‘Philly going to win 77 games and they might go 16-0 in the playoffs.’ And on the other side, you’re supposed to say, ‘Oh no, no it won’t work because A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and they’re going to get eliminated in the play-in.’ I just want to say this is wild. This is completely off the board.
Windhorst said
Windy cited the 2003 ‘stacked’ Los Angeles Lakers team to question how Wilbon could conclude without debating any logic. There was no true comparison to the four-time league MVP‘s newest team, talent-wise, which is why it is difficult to analyze how things can work out.
Brian Windhorst on Michael Wilbon comments saying the Sixers don’t become a championship team overnight:

He did agree that this unpredictability will leave many scratching their heads. Either this team could fold like those 2003 Lakers team did. Or they could win a championship. But since there is no direct comparison, no one can claim one or the other before they start playing.
