Jerry Jones has gone from being trolled for his ‘All In’ remark a couple of offseasons ago to now, where many are praising the Dallas Cowboys owner for finally fulfilling his promise of building a competent team.

When the energy magnate stuck to his words, fans and analysts labeled him as delusional and called for him to leave his position as GM so that someone competent could take over.

But since then, he has been on a tear. After surprisingly trading away Micah Parsons, the 83-year-old made quite a lot of moves that have turned the offense and defense into what some believe to be top-tier.

The offense proved last season that it is capable of being the best. But the defense was still a work in progress. Now, with a new coordinator and quite a few pieces, the expectation is that they will do much better than the leaky unit of last season. But Jones is not done.

I’d give up future, to add substantive to where we are today as to a player. To give you an idea about would I invest, something substantive to get the right kind of deal to improve us opening day – I would. I feel that good about this team this year… I talked about a situation yesterday with another team and another owner.

Jones basically revealed that not only is he in talks with other teams for a possible trade, but if a player becomes available where he believes spending future draft picks was worth it, he wouldn’t hesitate. He reiterated that he has not seen the team play together yet to know exactly what needs will crop up, but is still open to ideas.

Jerry Jones avoids tampering while answering Maxx Crosby question

After talking about targeting a ‘substantive’ player with future draft picks, a reporter asked Jerry Jones whether the Cowboys had to walk away from the Maxx Crosby trade because of his injury.

We did not walk away. And that’s about all there is to say. We understood his injury. We thought he could help us then, and we’re surprised the way that was resolved.

The article also mentions another reporter then asking the billionaire whether Crosby is in his books a ‘substantive’ player. To this, Jones replied:

That is tampering. He’s completely a Raider. Happy Raider. Everything in the book.

This answer did not shut down or confirm the possibility that Jerry Jones is in talks to get Maxx Crosby. After the trade to the Ravens collapsed, the Las Vegas Raiders might have reduced their demands. That may have persuaded the Cowboys owner to re-engage in negotiations.

Jerry Jones ready to do anything for a Super Bowl

One of the comments he made during that conversation with reporters at the Training Camp media session was that he was confident his Dallas Cowboys are capable contenders for the Super Bowl.

That is why Jerry Jones was willing to do whatever is needed to help them get there. He is also saying that he is willing to give up future first-round draft picks if he feels a player can help them get over the hump.

What this means is that his ‘all in’ statement turned out to be true, just that it has happened a bit late. However, given that he is in active trade talks means that the Cowboys could be potential buyers.

Currently, the player who is actively shopping for his next team is Vita Vea. But the Tampa Bay Buccaneers star wants to go and play in California. Jones needs someone who wants to embrace the Cowboys’ lifestyle.
