Once NASCAR announced the return of the Chase for the championship format, many in the community thought Team Penske Racing Joey Logano, who won three titles in the playoff’s era, won’t be factor. It is due to the fact that he is racer of moments and someone who wins championships by peaking at the right moment instead being consistent.
According to Kevin Harvick, the same might happen this year as well despite the format change, as the No:22 team has found their form recently with a win and consistent top-5 runs. In the latest episode of the Happy Hour podcast, he highlighted how the Ford driver has found form and his dominant run at Indy almost earned then the race win, proved they are back to contending for wins.
I think the thing with Joey Logano is the fact that two weeks in a row, short track, and then a flat big track like Indy, they were able to keep themselves in contention to have a chance to win at the end of the race.
Kevin Harvick said on his podcast.
The former champion sees Joey Logano coming into form in the last half of the season as something scary for the whole garage as a dominant No:22 team is almost unbeatable. With a handful of races, the veteran racer has put themselves in the Chase conversation, which no one expected to happen a month ago.
I think the scary part right now for the rest of the field is where is that 22 at? He dominated last week. He’s got himself to where he’s pretty much out of the conversation as far as making the Chase. He’s put himself pretty deep into making the Chase.
Kevin Harvick added via Happy Hour podcast.
Further talking about the point, Kevin Harvick the Ford team would be contenders for race wins in the upcoming big flat track venues such as New Hampshire and Richmond. Logano has been historically good in these short tracks as well as the regular season finale, Daytona, giving him the opportunity to enter the last-16 as one of the top 10 drivers.
And now, even on the big flat track, they were competitive, and now you’re going to go to New Hampshire, you’ve got to go to Richmond, a lot of these short track places that they run good, and at Daytona. So, I mean he could theoretically creep his way into the top ten in those standings and keep himself at least in the conversation.
Kevin Harvick asserted.
Joey Logano has recently said No:22 team always thrive under crazy pressure
The three times Cup champion was never affected by the pressure of the 2026 season, as he recently highlighted how his team are masters at winning under pressure. He pointed out that they’ve always found themselves in positions where they have to win their way out of it and has done it consistently enough to earn the respect of the whole garage.

It’s one step at a time. I always said this team doesn’t crack under pressure. That’s our biggest strength: we’re an even-keeled team. You just keep going along. Obviously, the pressure’s on us right now. This team usually excels in those situations, under pressure…We’ve seen that for years in the playoff system we’ve had. It really put us under that crazy amount of pressure for years. Our team’s gotten really good at that.
Joey Logano said.
The comments from the veteran are on point and a pattern about his performance gives him a lot of hopes. Since 2014, he had made it into the championship four in every even year, with winning three of them. 2026 is another even season and he might do it again despite the change in the championship format.
