The 2026 NASCAR Cup series season saw one of the biggest heartbreaks in the history of the sport, as two times Cup champion Kyle Busch passed away owing to severe pneumonia. Over the last two months, different drivers having been paying their respect in different way and now the 2023 Cup champion Ryan Baleny has joined the list.
He won the pole for this weekend’s race, the Iowa Corn 350, with a special helmet featuring tribute to the legend. It was the best way he thought of honoring the former RCR driver. It features photos of historic Busch victories with the signature Rowdy font and the veteran’s long-time sponsor at JGR, M&M also present.
My thought when Kyle passed was, you know, I’ve always thought in situations like that, how do you remember somebody? How do you think of all the good that they did in their life and all the success they had.
Ryan Blaney said after winning the pole.

Talking about it, the Team Penske Racing star driver pointed out that helmets are a unique thing in NASCAR, as the drivers get to design them and are allowed to incorporate their personality to it, giving it a special meaning. Ryan Blaney used that opportunity to honor late Kyle Busch and the legend’s family.
And, you know, I think helmets are a unique thing in our sport. We kind of get to design them. A lot of them have special meaning, and this is kind of my best way of showing my respect towards Kyle Busch and respect to the Busch family.
Ryan Blaney added, as reported via On3.com.

Further talking about the point, the Ford veteran explains very details that is in the helmet. He heighted how his designer perfectly incorporated eight pictures from some of the great moments of the racing legends career. It’s the perfect way to honor the legacy of the sport’s wingiest racer ever in all three national series combined.

I picked out- I think there are about seven or eight pictures of some wins of his, some big wins, like the Bristol Sweep Weekend, both his championships, his first Busch win, first Cup win, his 100th Xfinity win, his 200th NASCAR win, the Brickyard win, and each part of the helmet is that scheme that he ran on the car. That’s kind of how it’s broken up. So, my painter did a good job of kind of getting pretty imaginative on it.
Ryan Blaney asserted.
Once he is done with the race, Blaney is planning to give the helmet to Busch’s son Brexton, who is also an upcoming racer. He is happy how the community responded to his tribute and asserted that the Busch family can do what ever the likes to do with the helmet.
But yeah, I hope to run it for one race and give it to Brexton, the Busch family, and they can do whatever they want with it. So just, yeah, showing respect and I’m glad people noticed it.
Ryan Blaney added.
The comments from the champion driver are on point and shows how the whole racing community still miss the presence of the two times champion. It would be interesting to see if the No:12 driver can win the race and make the tribute more special.
