Jon Rahm did not have the best of weeks at the Trump National Bedminster during the LIV Golf New York event. Despite that, he won the season-long individual championship for a 3rd time in a row.

The 2-time major champion has been one of the league’s top stars since his move in December 2023. In his very first season in 2024, he was crowned the individual champion.

He then defended his crown last year. While he did not win a single event last year, he had more points than Joaquin Niemann, who won 5 times in 2025.

As a result of this, he finished higher than Niemann and claimed back-to-back titles. His win last year left many fans confused about the ranking system of the breakaway tour.

This year was a bit different. While he was consistent throughout the season in 2025, he had some trouble in recent tournaments. His strong start to the year, when he won twice in Hong Kong and Mexico City, along with 4 runner-up finishes, gave him enough cushion.

On the final day, he needed a lot to go wrong and a major to go right for Bryson DeChambeau to chase him down. While he had one of his worst performances on the LIV circuit this week with a T41 finish, DeChambeau did not have a great time as well.

The American international finished T38th with a 7-over par score. This saw him finish with 726 points, around 218 points behind Rahm.

Niemann, who won his 9th LIV Golf tournament with a triumph this Sunday, finished 3rd in the standings with 553 points. Once again, he missed out on the individual title to Rahm, who has won this crown in each of his 3 seasons on LIV Golf.

Golf fans react to Jon Rahm winning 3rd successive LIV Golf individual title

While Jon Rahm did not have a good time in the New York event, he was the big winner. He claimed his 3rd successive LIV Golf individual title after Bryson DeChambeau stumbled and failed in his pursuit.

Fans on social media, however, were not too impressed with this. Many once again attacked the league’s format and called it out. One user on X wrote, “it means nothing” while taking a swipe at LIV Golf.

Check out that and some other reactions from X below:

As for the majors, his best finish came at the 2026 PGA Championship, where he finished T2 alongside Alex Smalley, 3 shots behind winner Aaron Rai. He missed the cut at the U.S. Open and finished T38 at the Masters Tournament and T46 at the Open Championship.

Jon Rahm made a point about Scottie Scheffler after winning the 2026 LIV Golf Individual Championship

For a third year running, Jon Rahm was named the LIV Golf Individual Champion. While his form had been on a decline recently, he still had more than enough points to win. Following his victory, he made a point regarding Scottie Scheffler.

In his conversation with the reporters, Rahm was asked if people prized consistency as much as they should. The Spaniard then dropped a reference to the World No.1 golfer and claimed that there was severe recency bias.

Scottie, who’s had not the year he’s had the last few years, Scottie Scheffler in golf, and even though he’s leading the FedExCup we don’t really talk about it because we have the recency bias that oh, he hasn’t won in the last two months.

The 2026 season has been an interesting one for Scheffler. While he won in his first start, he has since recorded 5 runner-up finishes, including in his last start, where he finished behind young golfer Jackson Koivun at the 3M Open. In June, golf analyst Brandel Chamblee claimed that his game was “off“ and he was no longer the man who cannot be beaten.

As for Rahm, the question now is regarding his future. LIV Golf is currently in turmoil following the loss of financial support from the PIF this year.

Recent reports suggested that the league had found a new investor that would help them for the 2027 season. There is still no official word from them regarding the Team Championship event in Michigan amid reports of it being canceled.
