Kevin Harvick Indirectly Labels Joey Logano’s Championships ‘Micky Mouse Titles’

Team Penske Racing’s Joey Logano is the most successful driver in the playoff era and that has been a double-edged sword for the veteran’s legacy. While he is adored for the triumphs, there is a significant group in the motorsports fandom that sees them as Mickey Mouse title.

2014 Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick talked about the controversial conversation that has come up again recently, following Logano’s return to form. He admitted that the Ford driver won in a system that deserves the tag of Mickey Mouse.

Yeah, well, I think when you look at the format and us as competitors, when I was still driving, you would tell people, ‘Hey, I just raced to the format,’ But I think when you look back at it, I think that’s the reason that they changed the format because it was a little Mickey Mouse.

Further talking about the point, Kevin Harvick asserted that Joey Logano at the moment is motivated to remove the stain in his championship legacy. He wants to win a fourth title under the new chase format, which would legitimize his other championships in the minds of many.

You know, so if I was Joey Logano, I would look at that as motivation to say, ‘I don’t want that. I don’t want that rhetoric next to my three championships. ‘So, I’m just going to go win a fourth to be able to put all that to rest.’ And really that’s great motivation.

The veteran is happy that his firmer bitter rival is still finding ways to find motivation to remain in the championship conversations. The No:22 Ford driver and team still feel they have a chip on their shoulders and have something to prove to the whole garage.

When you’re at the point of having won three championships and winning races and doing all the things that Logano is doing at this point, those are the types of things that you have to grab for motivation to keep yourself going to the simulator, and doing all the things that you are required to do as a cup driver with all the work to say, ‘Okay, well, I’m going to show you guys, I’m going to go win a fourth championship and I’m going to do it in a different format.

The future Hall of Famer Joey Logano hates the micky mouse tag and the fans disrespect towards his titles. He recently insisted that his titles are legit regardless of the format, couldn’t help himself but take a cheeky dig at the haters.

To answer the question first, they’re all legit. I don’t care what the format is. Everyone knew the rules when it started, okay? I’ll say that first (smiling)… Either way, the Mickey Mouse ears look good on the trophies either way, and the check was pretty cool to go with it.

In the same conversation the veteran highlighted that he really wants to win one more championship as they have pressure on their shoulders. It would be interesting to see if the veteran can win one more title before the retirement to silence some of the haters.
