Joe Burrow is 29 and in his prime years. But the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback plans on winning the Super Bowl now rather than later.

Burrow led the Bengals to their most recent Super Bowl appearance in the 2021-22 season, which ended in a defeat to the Los Angeles Rams. Over the next four years, the Cincinnati team has qualified for the playoffs just once and not for lack of trying.

Injuries to key players like Burrow and a horrible defense have hindered the Bengals’ chances of challenging the other teams in the AFC. On top of it, the Bengals paid Burrow, wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins a generous sum of money and signed star tackle Dexter Lawrence to a lucrative deal, further curbing their spending power, which they could have used for a holistic improvement of the roster.

Regardless, experts believe that the Bengals have improved from last year. But the only way this roster can be tested is during the regular season when other teams will not pull any punches.

Joe Burrow is ready to give his best for the team once more. But this time, the situation is a little different. His patience is starting to wear out.

You can keep pushing it down the road, or you can talk about it now and say, ‘This is the year.’ And I’m tired of saying, ‘Next year, next year, next year.’ This is it. Life is too short to keep pushing things down the road. I’m trying to instill some urgency and some intensity in everybody to go and be great every day and try to go make it happen.

Burrow still has two years left on his Bengals contract. But the Bengals should take his make-or-break attitude with utmost caution. Failing to record a satisfactory season could trigger Burrow to request a trade, which has been teased on several occasions within the last 12 months.

Moreover, head coach Zac Taylor’s job is also on the line. Taylor has a 52-63-1 record as the Bengals head coach. They did not fire him like the Ravens and the Browns, because the organization is too “cheap.”

Joe Burrow got into a minor scuffle at Bengals joint practice

The Bengals invited the Bears for a friendly joint practice session ahead of their preseason game. But it was anything but friendly.

According to Mike Petraglia of Cincinnati media, Burrow got into a minor scuffle with the Bears defensive lineman Dayo Odeyingbo on Thursday. It happened after Burrow’s intended pass for Mike Gesicki was intercepted.

When asked about the coming together at the practice, Burrow said: “s*** happens… Everyone wants to protect each other.”

Wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase also reportedly got involved in the skirmish. Chase told the reporters that the Bengals are ready to do anything to keep their quarterback out of harm’s way.

Just defending my QB… Whatever we do… We better [expletive] protect Joe [Burrow].

Chase said

According to Petraglia, Burrow completed a couple of passes to Chase while he hit Tee Higgins six times, including a red-zone catch.

Burrow missed nine games in 2025 after suffering a turf toe injury. He completed 66.8% of his passes for 1809 yards, threw 17 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Joe Flacco and Jake Browning chipped in while Burrow was in rehab, but could not prevent the team from finishing outside of playoff places.
