The Los Angeles Angels will have a new owner. On Tuesday, reports emerged that Arte Moreno had sold the team to Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke. This development brought a huge wave of excitement among the Angels fans on social media.
The sale of the Angels will bring an end to a 23-year tenure of Moreno as the owner. He acquired the team in 2003 following their World Series triumph against the San Francisco Giants in 2002.
While the team had success with him in his early years and won 6 division titles, the last decade has been a poor one for them. With a 53-86 record as of Wednesday, they will finish a 11th straight season with a negative record. Their last playoff appearance came in 2014, when they lost 3-0 in the American League Division Series (ALDS) against the Kansas City Royals.
With today’s loss to the Guardians, the Angels have a 52-82 W/L record.

Their constant failures led to many fans urging Moreno to sell the team. Their wish has now come true.
Stan Kroenke, who owns the LA Rams and several other sporting teams, will become the owner of the Angels during the first quarter of 2027 following approval from the MLB.
OFFICIAL: Kroenke Sports & Entertainment ("KSE") announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire a controlling interest in the Los Angeles Angels Baseball Club from the Moreno Family.

There had been talks of Moreno selling the club in 2022. However, the 80-year-old decided against it and decided to keep his stake in the Anaheim-based side.

1) 2002 World Series win over the SF Giants
2) Arte Moreno sells the team
3) Mike Trout is drafted
Finally an owner who wants to win. I hope they have a $500 million payroll that makes the dodgers and Yankees look like paupers.

This is freaking amazing

At the moment, the team is on another barren run. Their 10-1 win on Monday against the New York Yankees snapped a 7-game losing run. With a 7-3 loss on Tuesday, they are 2-8 in their last 10 games.
Stan Kroenke has achieved success with other clubs
Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE) will add another team to its portfolio after acquiring the MLB franchise from Arte Moreno. The new owner of the Angels has achieved huge success with his other teams.

Apart from the Los Angeles Rams, Kroenke also owns the Denver Nuggets (NBA), the Colorado Avalanche (NHL), and Arsenal FC (English Premier League). He also has stakes in MLS side Colorado Rapids and Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League.
Under his ownership, the Rams won the Super Bowl in 2022 by beating the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20. They are considered one of the favorites for the title in the upcoming season.
The Avalanche won the Stanley Cup in the 2021-22 season, stopping the Tampa Bay Lightning from completing a three-peat with a 4-2 win in the Final. The Nuggets won the NBA Championship in the 2022-23 season by beating the Miami Heat 4-1 in the NBA Finals.
As for Arsenal, they finally got over the line in the English Premier League in the 2025-26 season. After 3 straight runner-up finishes, the Mikel Arteta-led side won their first Premier League title since the 2003-04 Invincibles season, finishing 7 points ahead of Manchester City.
