Boston Red Sox broadcaster Will Flemming found himself under huge backlash following his comments regarding Jazz Chisholm Jr. on Sunday. New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge blasted him on Monday and expressed that Flemming “needs to clean that up.”
On Sunday, the Yankees faced the Red Sox at Yankee Stadium during the series finale. Chisholm Jr. found himself in the midst of a controversy in the 5th inning, when his fly ball was ruled a single despite Ceddanne Rafaela claiming to catch the ball in right field.
The Yankees proceeded to put 5 runs on the board after this huge no-catch call by the umpires. In the end, they won 16-1 and took 3 games out of the 4 in the series.
It was in the 7th inning when Flemming lost his cool. With the Yankees leading 7-1, the Red Sox did not try to hold Chisholm Jr. down at second base.
This led to him stealing third base, which led to Flemming calling the infielder a “bush league player.” He also asked his broadcast colleague Will Middlesbrooks, whether he would like to see Jovani Moran drill Austin Wells with a pitch.

Flemming found himself under heat for this choice of words. He later issued an apology on X and expressed that he crossed a line while getting emotional.
I meant no disrespect to the Yankees players or organization. I could and should have used different words. These rivalry games get me fired up; I apologize for letting the emotion of the moment get the best of me.

On Monday, the Yankees hit back at him. Chisholm Jr. called Flemming “unprofessional“ and stated that he had not even heard about him until morning.
Aaron Judge, meanwhile, blasted the broadcaster. In the Los Angeles Angels clubhouse on Monday, the Yankees captain claimed that he (Flemming) should stay out of it and not wish to injure players.
He needs to stay out of that and not be telling people to throw at players and injure players. That’s not what this game’s about. Not too happy hearing broadcasters talking about trying to injure or hurt players. He needs to clean that up.
Aaron Judge said as per Chris Kirschner

Aaron Judge said Flemming needs to "clean that up" and that he was "not too happy" to hear what was said.
And here's Carlos Rodón on people being upset about Chisholm's stolen…
This is not the first time that a broadcaster took a dig at Chisholm Jr. this season. In June, Cleveland Guardians announcer Tom Hamilton threw a shade at the Yankees star following his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The 28-year-old later hit back at him. He then had the last laugh as the Yankees swept the Guardians in the 3-game series.
Aaron Judge closing in on Yankees return
It has been over 3 months since Aaron Judge last played baseball. The 3-time MLB MVP has been out of action since early June following his rib injury. He is now getting close to a return.

Judge suffered some discomfort during the series against the Athletics in late May. An MRI scan later revealed that he had suffered a rib fracture.
Reports later claimed that he had injured himself in April while diving to make a play. He then played through the pain barrier before this injury flared up. He was then placed on the 60-day injured list.
The 34-year-old has resumed training and did travel with the team on Monday for their series against the Angels. As per manager Aaron Boone, there is a chance that he could be back during their homestand next week.
I think it’s possible. I’m not going to put a date on it. But I think those things are in play now.
Aaron Boone told the reporters regarding Aaron Judge

Judge has 17 home runs and 38 RBIs with a .248 batting average in 59 games. In his absence, the Yankees have one of the worst batting averages in the league.
Speaking of the team, they lost 10-1 in the series opener against the Angels and were left with a 78-60 record. Following this series, they will travel to San Diego to take on the Padres before returning home to host the Colorado Rockies and the New York Mets.
