The NASCAR Cup race on Sunday saw Alex Bowman going through an emotional roller coaster of a race and secure a P2 finish, his first top-3 finish in 16 race days. He would have won the race if not for his teammate Kyle Larson, who was running better and ended his 50+ race winless streak.

Talking about the result, the veteran racer admitted that he is really happy with the result and happy for his teammate who won the event, getting him back in the title conversation. He then revealed the emotional challenge he went through the whole day.

Yeah, I’m super happy for Kyle. It’s a really hard weekend just to get on the plane and be here.

Alex Bowman said pots-race.

He lost his best friend, his family Dog that has been with him for a long-time. Anyone who knows Alex Bowman knows how close he was with his canine friends. His team really stepped up in the tough moment for him and that helped him to produce a strong run. The veteran racer was in tears over the loss.

I had a little extra help today. So yeah, ready to go home, but I’m proud of everybody on this Ally 48 team for helping me through the weekend. Life is hard sometimes. Yeah, I lost my best friend, so ready to go home.

Alex Bowman added.

Yeah, I mean, I **** here, so clearly I had some help. You just never want to see your best friend suffer, and unfortunately the end was pretty bad.

Alex Bowman said.

Furthermore, he highlighted how proud he is about the whole No:48 team for helping him perform and his teammate for pulling of the win. Overall, it was a great day for the whole Hendrick Motorsports’ garage on the track.

That was really difficult, but man, I’m just proud of this Ally 48 team and everybody at Hendrick Motorsports. And I’m really proud of Kyle for winning. I know it’s been a while for him, and it’s great for this team and the Chase and everything. It was a good day for us.

Alex Bowman added.

The comments from Bowman shows how much emotionally drained he was after the race and shows the one side of the racer that fans rarely get to see. It would be interesting to see how the reminder of the season is going to playout for the star driver.
