Stephen Curry is one of the greatest players of his generation and has cemented himself as arguably the greatest shooter of all time. Drafted by the Golden State Warriors as the seventh overall pick in 2009, Curry has spent his entire career with them and is undoubtedly their greatest franchise player.

Since entering the league in 2009, Curry was riddled with injuries early in his career. But once he got past his ankle problems, he went on to lead the Warriors to four championships in six NBA Finals. They even became the greatest regular-season team of all time, going 73-9 in the 2015-16 campaign.

From 2015 to 2019, the Warriors were widely regarded as one of the greatest dynasties in NBA history. However, after leading the Dubs to a championship in 2022, things have been far from smooth for Curry and his team.

With just one year left on Curry’s contract, he was asked whether going through the free-agency process, like LeBron James, appeals to him.

I’ve always stated that I wanna be a lifer with Golden State. What we’ve built there, the fact that I get to run it back this year with Draymond and Coach Kerr. All the contract stuff is this NBA thing from year to year, it’s so crazy things change really fast. But I do know my interest and mission to stay in Golden State and be competitive is there, and the contract stuff will take care of itself.

During the course of his career, Curry has won two MVPs, two scoring titles, four championships, and one Finals MVP, to name a few. Many see him as one of the greatest to ever play the game and laud him for changing basketball forever with his three-point shooting prowess.

With Draymond Green re-signing with the Warriors and Steve Kerr returning to the team on a two-year deal, Curry has made it clear that he intends to end his career in Golden State.

Stephen Curry will not follow LeBron James’ footsteps and become a free agent

This summer, LeBron James surprised everyone by departing from the Los Angeles Lakers as a free agent. It was the fourth time in his career he was testing free agency. The Warriors were one of the teams that were heavily linked to the 41-year-old. Curry was even public about the idea of playing alongside James.

After weeks of constant rumors and reports, James finally decided to join the Philadelphia 76ers. It was a missed opportunity for the Dubs, as it seemed like they put all their eggs in one basket by pursuing the ‘King.’

Stephen Curry may be 38 heading into the new season, but he has shown he can still play at an elite level. He is eligible for a two-year, $136.7 million contract with the Dubs. With just a year left on his current contract, the two-time MVP is yet to sign the extension.

However, Dub Nation can rest easy, as Curry revealed he wants to end his career in Golden State. While James’ path to success is through conquering with different teams, Curry prefers to end his career as a one-franchise player.

Kendrick Perkins sends strong message to Warriors front office over Stephen Curry

The Warriors are coming off another disappointing campaign, missing the playoffs for the second time in the last three years. With Curry’s championship window shrinking, the Warriors front office has struggled to surround him with the right players to win another title.

Former champion Kendrick Perkins demanded that the front office immediately build a roster around their franchise player that is capable of contending for the title.

The Warriors don’t have the option to wait on nothing when it comes to Steph Curry. Loyalty in today’s game, you don’t see that from players. The fact that Steph Curry has been riding with them over the last three or four years, knowing that he wants to win a championship. To me, what this interview said to me is, Mike Dunleavy, you have to do your d*mn job.

The Warriors are going to run it back with more or less the same roster as last season. They are far from contenders in a stacked Western Conference right now. With Stephen Curry committed to staying in the Bay Area alongside Green and Kerr, the pressure shifts entirely to General Manager Mike Dunleavy.
