Aaron Judge is going back to the injured list. On Friday, the New York Yankees placed their captain on the IL once again following a right calf strain suffered earlier this week.
The 3-time American League MVP had an early exit on Wednesday. After striking out in his 2 at-bats, he was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the 6th inning against the Minnesota Twins.
After the game, Judge described feeling some tightness in his lower body. He thus decided to come out of the game to avoid costing his team.

Judge underwent an MRI scan on Thursday. The reports revealed him suffering from a right calf strain. He was then placed on the 10-day injured list. Meanwhile, manager Aaron Boone did not provide the severity of the strain or any timeline regarding his return.

The last thing the Yankees wanted in the final stretch of the season was to lose Judge again. The outfielder had just returned to the lineup earlier this month after missing more than 3 months of action.
After suffering some discomfort in late May against the Athletics, he was diagnosed with a right rib fracture. This landed him on the 60-day injured list.
According to Judge, he suffered this blow while diving for the ball against the Houston Astros in April. He then played through the pain barrier. The effects of this were clearly seen as he went 11 games without a home run.
Social media reacts to Aaron Judge returning to the injured list
Aaron Judge‘s return to the New York Yankees lineup was short-lived. A few games after coming back, he has landed on the injured list once again, this time with a right calf strain. This sparked some wild reactions among fans on social media.

Yankees fans on X were left upset with this update. Some urged the team to make him a full-time designated hitter (DH). Meanwhile, one fan compared him to Giancarlo Stanton and wrote, “Dude is turning into Stanton,” while making their feelings known.
Check out that and some other reactions from X below:

Just shut him down for the season. There’s no point. He won’t be ready to hit elite pitching in the postseason.

Should’ve rehabbed in minors before returning

650 plate appearances of Aaron Judge at DH healthy far outweighs him standing in right field. He has to be a full-time DH going forward.

This guy is as healthy as Anthony Davis.

Speaking of Stanton, he’s still out of action. While preparing for his return from a calf strain sustained in April, he fell and injured his other calf last month.
Aaron Boone says he has no idea when Aaron Judge could return
The New York Yankees will be without Aaron Judge once again this year after his right calf strain. When asked about his potential return, Aaron Boone said he has no idea when the superstar could return.

A Grade 1 strain typically requires 2-3 weeks to recover. That means he will miss the current weekend series against the Arizona Diamondbacks and the 4-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays, whom the Yankees trail by 5 games in the division race.
I don’t know. I’m not going to predict anything.

Max Schuemann is en route and will join the Yankees tomorrow.
The loss of Judge in the postseason could be a big blow for the Yankees. They did win big on Friday, though, outclassing the playoff-chasing D-backs 9-2 in the series opener.
