The New York Giants fans’ wind blew out when they saw Jaxson Dart get clobbered from both sides during their Week 2 Monday Night Football clash against the Los Angeles Rams.

On the eighth play of this highly anticipated clash, Rams linebacker Byron Young hit the Giants QB from the side as he completed his throwing motion. That impact pushed Dart towards the left, but his left foot was still planted on the ground.

At the same time, Josaiah Stewart‘s thigh collided with the Ole Miss alum’s left thigh. Since his foot was still planted, the resulting force bent his knee in a manner that is not something the joint can take.

After going off the field, the signal caller wanted to return. But by then, his jersey was taken away, and the somber mood traveled to the sideline, where a Giants staffer apparently informed head coach John Harbaugh that his most important player might be out for up to six weeks.

No, no, no, no… Live watching it, I said, ‘Oh no, he may be out for the year.’… I’m praying that’s not the case, because I know how much he cares, how much he loves the game, how much he means to that team… It is devastating news if that’s the case.

Russell Wilson said on Set Hut

This was the former Giants quarterback’s reaction to learning the news on NFL on CBS that Jaxson Dart may be done for the season. Russell Wilson may have lost his job to the then-rookie, but his reaction is a clear indication of what he feels for his former teammate.

Kyle Long asks Russell Wilson to be ready if Jaxson Dart’s injury news is confirmed

During this segment, Russell Wilson kept asking whether Jaxson Dart’s injury news was confirmed. His Set Hut co-analyst and former offensive lineman Kyle Long reiterated that the ‘possibility’ has been touted but hasn’t been confirmed.

With several league insiders confirming that there is growing belief that the Utah native’s season might be done, Long ended the conversation with a suggestion to Wilson.

There is no third quarterback on that roster. Braxton Berrios was the last listed emergency quarterback. So, I would keep your phone on ringer, just in case.

Kyle Long said

The Braxton Berrios the former guard is referring to is a wide receiver on the Giants’ practice squad. Long has a point that with Dart possibly done for the season, Jameis Winston struggling, Jake Haener the second option, and a wideout as the third QB, Wilson could get a call to come out of retirement.

Emmanuel Acho wants Giants to call Russell Wilson

Kyle Long might not be the only one who believes that Russell Wilson should get ready to get a call from the New York Giants. While analyzing the Giants-Rams game and the Jaxson Dart injury news on Speakeasy, Emmanuel Acho said this:

Jameis Winston showed me yesterday that the Giants need to call Russell Wilson… With all due respect, Jameis didn’t show us enough last night for me to feel confident or comfortable moving forward.

Emmanuel Acho said

The analyst believes that Wilson has all the experience needed to stabilize the Giants until Dart returns. He may not be close to the version of Dangerous fans were accustomed to, but will be better than Jameis Winston.

To Acho, the latter proved that the Giants could be staring at possibly picking in the top five in next year’s draft. Some might complain about a lack of first-team reps. But then, the former linebacker brought up Carson Wentz‘s Week 1 performance to dismiss that logic.
