The NASCAR Late Model Race last week at Martinsville, The ValleyStar Credit Union 300, witnessed a wild moment post-race. Chad Bryant Racing crew jumped on lonely Corey Heim, over a late race clash that ruined the race. The sanctioning body dropped that hammer on the crew by fining them and giving them indefinite suspension.

Ex-NASCAR Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick talked about the dramatic moment in the latest episode of his podcast. He highlighted how its wild the that CBR team stopped third driver from confronting Heim and then jumped him as a group.

Well the bad part here is the 77 team actually stopped their driver from going to talk to Corey Heim. Then ultimately jumped him instead. And the team owner and some of their crew members- that’s the team owner throwing punches right there. That’s Treyten’s brother right there.

Kevin Harvick said on his podcast.

The veteran was furious with what happened and like NASCAT didn’t want the crew, especially owner Chad Bryant kicked out of the championship for a long-time. It’s unfortunate and unacceptable the teams can get away with jumping a lonely driver infront of a food stand.

And Corey Heim all by himself over against the hot dog stand. Ultimately, hopefully they throw both of those crew guys out because this is the kind of stuff that gives late model racing a bad name, when you have crew members who think that they can go over and jump a driver in front of the snack bar.

Kevin Harvick added as reported via On3.com.

It’s not the first time a similar incident has happened at Martinsville, and it won’t be the last, if the sport sanctioning body punishes the crew hard. Kevin Harvick also highlighted how the series he co-owns, CARS Tour, will look into the matter considering many involved in the drama is also associated with them.

It’s just, it’s not what you want to see. It was not what you want to see after such a great race on the racetrack, but ultimately happens a lot, unfortunately, at Martinsville. I’m sure NASCAR will hand down some fines, and that’ll force us at the CARS Tour to look at those penalties with a lot of the same competitors in our garage as well.

Kevin Harvick asserted.

Rival driver releases a strong statement on the Corey Heim fight

Treyten Lapcevich, the driver of Chad Bryant Racing, released a bold statement about the drama. He highlighted how he doesn’t condone what happened on the track and insisted that there is no justification for his crew jumping Heim.

What happened with Corey after the race was wrong, and it should not have happened. While I was not involved in the incident, I want to be clear that I do not condone any actions that took place… No matter the circumstances, frustration from a race never justifies putting your hands on another competitor… Those actions were unacceptable, and they do not reflect who I am as a person or as a competitor.

Treyten Lapcevich said via a statement.

The racer was determined to distance himself from the drama, as it was his racing future in line with the unwanted controversy. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the team in the coming years, with NASCAR yet to confirm the length of the suspension.
