UFC 332 features Natalia Silva taking on Wang Cong in the main event with the women’s flyweight title on the line. The main card fighters attended the pre-fight press conference in Salt Palace Convention Center – Hall 5 in Salt Lake City, Utah, with Dana White anchoring the session.

For UFC 331 pre-fight presser, Jon Anik anchored the session instead of White. The UFC CEO’s return for UFC 332 consisted of an awkward moment when asked about the process of choosing Cong to fight for the vacant flyweight title after Valentina Shevchenko got injured.

The reporter asked about what White thought about Cong to give her the title shot. The 57-year-old started with a generic answer, but soon forgot about the full name of the Chinese flyweight star. White tried to look at the sheet he had, but soon pivoted the answer to another direction.

I mean, we’re always trying to find out who the best is. That’s what we care about. So, in making this fight, Wang uh… you know, Wang…Wang was the decision we made. Natalia, obviously, on a 14-fight win streak. We’ll see.

Journalist Ariel Helwani posted the video on his X account to mock Dana White’s attempt in promoting the UFC 332 main event. Helwani has criticized White multiple times in the past for low-effort promotion of UFC fights.

Helwani once berated the UFC CEO for showing more interest to promote an influencer MMA bout rather than a UFC fight. Not knowing the full name of Wang Cong was an awkward moment at the pre-fight press conference.

Previously, the MMA insider explained the reason why UFC 332 lacked in star power compared to other fight cards of 2026. The MMA community panned the card as lackluster for not having compelling fights.

Some time later, Helwani exposed White for making another huge blunder in an interview with MMA Fighting. He was asked on why the Chinese star deserved the title shot. White answered by mentioning that Cong beat former champions Rose Namajunas, Jessica Andrade, and Alexa Grasso.

The problem is that Cong never faced Namajunas, Andrade or Grasso in the UFC. It was her opponent, Natalia Silva, that faced the trio of former UFC champions. Ariel Helwani made sure to point that out while exposing White again.

Dana White hasn’t had a good week to say the least. Despite not attending the Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua press conference, his name was mercilessly booed when mentioned by Turki Alalshikh.

His name was not listed under the promoters for Fury vs Joshua in another setback. However, the UFC CEO is not letting that one go.

Dana White says he is promoting Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua superfight

The main reason why Dana White gets mentioned around Fury vs Joshua is because of now heated relationship with Eddie Hearn. White and Hearn were good friends, but the UFC CEO’s entry into boxing changed that.

White signed Conor Benn from Hearn’s company, which further ruined their friendship. Hearn is insistent that White cannot be a promoter for Fury vs Joshua. He made sure such a clause was inserted into his contract.

At the same time, White is not backing down. The 57-year-old used the UFC 332 presser to double down on his involvement and explain why it was not a PR disaster.

I had The Contender Series [on Tuesday] and I had to be here today. I fly a lot, but that’s a little bit of a rough trip. Not only am I promoting the [Anthony Joshua-Tyson Fury] fight, we’re producing the fight too. UFC is gonna produce the show. I don’t know how that’s a PR disaster.

It appears that both sides are not backing down. Joshua recently backed Hearn’s position to not include White and suggested that he may consider pulling out of the superfight if the British promoter wanted him to.

Joshua cited Hearn’s loyalty as a reason why. It remains to be seen how things will proceed moving forward.
