On Thursday, the Milwaukee Brewers moved on to the World Series with a 4-0 sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series (NLCS). Following their historic triumph, manager Pat Murphy took a shot at the LA-based team.
Last year, the Brewers were staring at the ground in defeat as they got swept 4-0. While having the best record in the league, they were also 6-0 against the Dodgers in the regular season in 2025.
However, they ended up getting swept as the Dodgers moved on to the World Series, where they defeated the Toronto Blue Jays in an epic Game 7 to repeat as champions.
This year, the Brew Crew flipped the script. Once again, they finished with the best record in the league and faced the Dodgers in an NLCS matchup.
This time, the NL Central side was better in almost all departments. Their offense got through the starting rotation of Tarik Skubal, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, and Tyler Glasnow. In the 4 games, they outscored the outgoing champions 21-11 and came back in each game.

With their 4-0 sweep, they did something that was last done in 1923. They became the first team after the 1923 New York Yankees to beat a team in a postseason series after getting swept by them in the previous postseason. This was also the first reverse sweep in MLB history.

For the Dodgers, it seemed things were finally going their way as Shohei Ohtani broke his home run drought and smashed a 3-run home run to give his side a 4-0 lead. The Japanese international was back in the leadoff spot and homered for the first time since August 18.
Despite this, the star-studded lineup of the Dodgers was unable to avoid the sweep. It marked just the second time in their franchise history that they had been swept in a best-of-seven postseason series.
During the National League pennant celebration, Pat Murphy did not hold back and dropped a huge take as his team stopped the Dodgers’ three-peat dreams.
They may have a bunch of Hall of Famers, but we have a bunch of gamers, and the gamers won this week.

The Brewers will now play in the World Series for the first time in 44 years. Their only previous trip was in 1982 when they were an American League team. After being 3-2 up in the series against the St. Louis Cardinals, they lost Games 6 and 7 and lost the series.
Brewers’ Jake Bauers named NLCS MVP
The Milwaukee Brewers got their revenge over the Los Angeles Dodgers as they swept them 4-0 in the NLCS and handed them one of their biggest defeats. Jake Bauers was later named the NLCS MVP.

The first baseman had a career year this season as he hit 26 home runs and had 86 RBIs in the regular season. He was also the offensive hero for the team throughout this entire series.
In Game 2, he had a 12-pitch walk against Yoshinobu Yamamoto. This plate appearance, which lasted over 7 minutes, later saw captain Christian Yelich drive in 2 runs with a single.
In Game 3, he hit the go-ahead home run against Blake Snell on the 11th pitch of his at-bat. His 2-run shot was followed by a solo home run from Garrett Mitchell, which saw them take a 4-2 lead. Eventually, they won that game 6-2.
On Thursday, he once again came up clutch. His ground-rule double in the 4th inning cut the deficit in half and put his side on the board. He finished the series with 1 home run and 6 RBIs. This earned him the NLCS MVP honor.

He is also the first Brewers’ star to win this award. In 1982, when they won the ALCS, the honor went to California Angels’ Fred Lynn.
Bauers and his team will now wait and see who they face in the Fall Classic. Before their game on Thursday, the Cleveland Guardians won 3-2 against the Tampa Bay Rays and took a 2-1 lead.
