Lando Norris has to be up there with the best in Formula 1 right now. All he needs is a competitive car. But that doesn’t seem to be the case at this point in time. It’s been a rocky start to the season. That came along as a shock for most people keeping in mind that Lando Norris and McLaren enjoyed an almost flawless pre season.

But as we have seen in so many seasons it doesn’t doesn’t always mean that the it’s a clear indication of the things to come. It’s been a complete turnaround from the pre season testing where the team was clocking some serious pace. The team had a weekend that it would like to forget as soon as possible. All the built up expectations disappeared after the dismal showing by the duo of Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo at the Bahrain GP.

Lando Norris is seen as the present and the future of the team, after they signed him multi year contract. This is a long term project with Lando Norris at the helm of it. The question that arises is whether Lando took the right call by committing his future to a team that’s struggling to break out of the midfield?

Jenson Button has made his feelings clear that Lando Norris hasn’t taken the right decision by pledging his loyalty to McLaren for the long term. He said, “For Lando, it was surprising that he signed such a long contract at the start of his career.”

“We all want to be team players but you never know where the team is going to be in three years.”

“And also, this is going to be a big hit. Five years to go and he is going to be like, ‘Oh, okay’.”

“But all he can do is go back to the team, tell them what the issues are and try and resolve them.” As reported by gpfans.

Lando Norris is a part of a class team in McLaren but they haven’t been competing at the top of the grid. As a Formula 1 driver, you have a short span to win a title and Lando would want to become a world champion. We’ll have to wait and see if McLaren can bring it back on track soon.
