A weekend that McLaren and Lando Norris would want to forget as soon as possible. There has been a sense of anticipation around McLaren for quite a while now as everyone expects the British team to break out of the midfield and bring back the glory days. But all expectations must have disappeared after the dismal showing by the duo of Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo at the Bahrain GP.

We all expected McLaren to reduce the gap to the top 3 as there is no reason for the British manufacturers to be stuck in the midfield provided the driver line up and the resources the team possesses. Both the drivers struggled during the qualifying with neither of them failing to make it to Q3. Th situation didn’t seem to change during the race as both Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo didn’t seem to have any grip on the new car. Lando Norris finished 15th, a place behind Daniel Ricciardo.

It’s been a complete turnaround from the pre season testing where the team was clocking some serious pace. But, as it has been seen in so many seasons, it doesn’t always mean that the it’s a clear indication of the things to come. Lando Norris has denied to put the blame on the Mercedes’ engine.

He believes if Lewis Hamilton and George Russell can finish 3rd and 4th respectively, we should also do much better in terms of our performance. He said, “I am expecting pain and I think everyone needs to know there is going to be a bit of pain.”

“As McLaren and myself, we expect a lot more but it is just not what we have at the minute. We have to get used to it.”

“I guess we have been in this position a few years ago and I am hoping we can remain optimistic the team and everyone back at the MTC can figure things out and we can get back on track.” As reported by gpfans.

Lando Norris has clarified that if they can’t find the answers soon, the team will find itself in a world of pain for the foreseeable future. But this is when your character as a Formula 1 driver is tested. So, let’s see if McLaren and Lando Norris can make a comeback in the next race in Saudi Arabia.
