Jake Paul- Mike Tyson

Jake Paul won over pretty impressive names in his recent boxing matches considering they were world champions in MMA, but a 20th century boxing legend will add an altogether another level of glow on his resume. Paul, who’s returning into the boxing ring after 8 months come August 6, 2022, is 5-0 undefeated as a professional boxer and has knocked out every person he fought, including former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and former Bellator MMA welterweight champion Ben Askren.

So far this year, Paul has been much more active as a boxing promoter and has done a fair job organising a platform for women’s boxing great Amanda Serrano. Not so long ago, Paul signed a huge name from the prospects’ list by the name of Ashton Sylve who’s undefeated as a pro-boxer and is just 18 years old. Paul started off his road to fame as a Youtuber alongside his elder brother Logan Paul and transitioned into the boxing world in 2019.

In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, boxing legend Mike Tyson, who’s been the recorded youngest heavyweight champion in boxing history, talked about a possible matchup with Paul. Tyson left the sport of boxing in 2005 after losing to Kevin McBride. Tyson then returned only for an exhibition match against fellow legend Roy Jones Jr in 2020. The fight ended without scoring and results since it was an exhibition.

“Listen, this guy has seven million people following him every time he fights,” says Tyson The champions of the world don’t have that many people following them so what he is doing for boxing is just sensational. No one should be hating on that, let’s just fight ‘em. He’s helping everybody get money. Why are people mad at him?… Anything is possible, yes. But it has got to happen this year. It has got to happen this year,” concludes Tyson.

Paul took to Twitter to post a clip of Tyson’s interview with Kimmel and appreciated Tyson’s compliments for Paul by saying in the captions “Thank you to the great Mike Tyson for the respect and opportunity. This year we are making it happen.

What do you make of a potential matchup between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul? Do you think Tyson should consider fighting at the age of 55? Who do you think would win between Paul and Tyson? Also, where do you put Tyson amongst the greatest or most feared boxers of all time? In his prime, Tyson captured the world heavyweight championship at the age of 19 and was 37-0 before having his first professional loss.
