Aaron Rodgers intends to start a family once he retires from football. The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback has given it a long, hard thought.

Rodgers, 42, agreed to extend his Steelers career by one more year. But he made it clear that the 2026 season will be his last.

After the season ends, Rodgers plans to disappear from the media’s eye. He wants to start a family and experience fatherhood.

I’m looking forward to a life of quiet after 22 years in the pros and three in college and getting my body healed up and working on a family. That’s what I’m looking forward to.

Aaron Rodgers told Adam Schein on SiriusXM

Rodgers has always wanted a quiet life after retirement. The recent reconciliation with his family has opened his eyes to newer possibilities. He enjoys hearing “uncle” from his nieces.

Being back in my family’s lives [and] I’m having a lot of fun being Uncle Aaron. I mean, I have a few godkids that I’m involved with, but being Uncle Aaron to my brother’s kids has been a lot of fun.

Last month, Rodgers spent time with his family after a long while. He posted photos with his father and mother, his older brother, his wife, and two daughters.

Rodgers’ career spans more than two decades. Initially, he was close to his family. However, things took a turn for the worse when he introduced his girlfriend, Olivia Munn. His parents did not approve of the relationship. It further escalated when his younger brother, Jordan Rodgers, brought their family matters onto television.

Aaron Rodgers severed ties with his family. Besides Munn, Rodgers also dated Shailene Woodley and Danica Patrick, but neither relationship lasted.

Meanwhile, he won a Super Bowl, four league MVP titles, and multiple All-Pro and Pro Bowl selections. He would love to win a second ring before hanging up his boots, but at the same time he’s looking forward to starting his own family.

The more I’m around [my family], the more I get excited, and so does the wife about having some of our own. So, yeah, I’m excited for that. I can’t wait for the next chapter of life and all that entails, and sleepless nights and crying babies and changing diapers and all those things. I’m looking forward to all of it.

Rodgers went off the grid following his release from the Jets in 2025. When he resurfaced, the eagle-eyed journalists noticed a replacement ring on his ring finger. After signing with the Steelers, Rodgers confirmed that he married Brittani in a private ceremony.

Rodgers spoke about his wife again after penning a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh franchise. He revealed that he was close to announcing his retirement, but changed his mind because Brittani urged him to come back.

Thus far, Rodgers has not released any photos of his wife.

NFL analyst makes surprising claim about Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers

The Steelers won back their divisional crown last year. They went 10-7 with a final-day win over the Baltimore Ravens. But they faltered at the first hurdle in the playoffs.

The Steelers lost 30-6 to the Houston Texans. Rodgers threw a pick-6 and was sacked four times. Mike Tomlin stepped down as head coach. The Steelers replaced Tomlin with Pittsburgh native and former Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy.

Rodgers won his only ring with McCarthy in 2011. Experts are divided on whether the duo can replicate the same magic after all these years. Rich Eisen teased that he won’t be surprised if the Steelers become champions.

The thing that would blow my mind the most, and would blow everyone’s mind, and it’s entirely possible: Super Bowl champion Aaron Rodgers. Steelers win it all. Mike McCarthy comes home and wins it all, and Rodgers strolls off into the sunset. That would blow everyone’s mind. Steelers make the Super Bowl, win it in Los Angeles.

The Steelers went 1-2 in preseason. On opening day of the 2026 season, they host the Atlanta Falcons at Acrisure Stadium. According to ESPN, the Steelers boast +5000 odds to win the Super Bowl.
