The wrestling world is still mourning the shocking demise of Jay Briscoe. AEW wrestlers also paid tribute to the ROH tag team champions in the latest episode of Dynamite on Wednesday. One wrestler who shared a deep rivalry with Jay and his brother Mark Briscoe is Dax Harwood, who recently paid tribute to the late wrestler.
Harwood shared a heartfelt message on Twitter, looking back on his year-long rivalry with the Briscoes. He tweeted, “THE TRILOGY. We were born to do this.” All three matches between FTR and Briscoe Brothers were applauded by critics and fans alike and got a five-star and above rating from Dave Meltzer.
Tony Khan disclosed the death of Jay Briscoe to the world via Twitter. The 13-time ROH tag team champion sadly passed away on January 17th in a car accident in Laurel, Delaware. Jay’s daughters were also present in the car and suffered serious injuries after the accident. ROH and AEW owner Tony Khan also announced that a tribute show to Jay Briscoe was recorded after Dynamite. The show will be free to view for everyone on Honor Club.

The history between FTR and Briscoe Brothers
The rivalry between the two of the greatest tag teams of the modern era is not older than a year. FTR made their ROH debut at Final Battle 2021 and came face-to-face with ROH world tag team champions Briscoes following their title defense. As Dax Harwood said, the two tag teams would go on to have a trilogy of matches in the promotion. Their first match was at ROH Supercard of Honor 2022 in a classic tag team action. FTR won the critically acclaimed match and started their inaugural reign as ROH tag team champions.
Both the teams raised the stakes in their following matches, with both the matches not just being for the titles but both being brutal gimmick matches as well. While FTR won the 2-out-of-3-falls match at Death Before Dishonour, Briscoes would go on to regain the tag titles at Final Battle in a grueling Double Dog Collar match.
Jay Briscoe (real name Jamin Pugh) unfortunately died just a day before his brother, Mark’s birthday, and eight days before his 39th birthday, while still being ROH world tag team champion. The wrestling world paid their respects to Jay via social media, which included stars like Seth Rollins, Adam Cole, Big E, and WWE CCO Triple H. Fans will be looking forward to ROH’s emotional tribute show to the late wrestler, which will be available for free on Honor Club.
