Hence, it was expected that the 22-year-old was feeling confident in himself after defeating the reigning champions last week. As the Timberwolves would face the Dallas Mavericks next, Ant-Man made a bold statement about Kyrie Irving, which did not turn out well for the guard.
Anthony Edwards showed excitement to matchup against Kyrie Irving in the Western Conference finals. As the star expected the matchup to be ‘fun’, Ant-Man was proven wrong, to say the least. Irving completely dominated the Wolves guard as he dropped 24 points in just the first half.
Irving showed off the ‘vintage Kyrie’ with his unreal handles and unmatchable scoring abilities. KAI was incredible from the field as he made 52.2% of the shots he attempted. Ant-Man and the Minnesota Timberwolves defense looked helpless against Irving.
After the game, Irving did admit that Edwards’ quote gave him the motivation to come out strong for the opening game. But the star also showed great sportsmanship as he praised the Wolves guard for his mentality. The 32-year-old ended up scoring 30 points, five rebounds, and four assists in the Game 1 win.
