Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) skipper Virat Kohli became the first player in IPL to score 5500 runs. It took 173 innings for the RCB and India skipper to reach the milestone.

The Indian captain achieved the unique milestone of becoming the first and the fastest player to reach 5500 runs in IPL history. Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets after chasing 155 runs target. Kohli along with Padikkal did the damage for RCB after a 99-run stand for the third wicket.

Virat Kohli’s IPL 2020 didn’t start well, with low scoring performances in the opening three games. However, things were different this time against the Rajasthan Royals(RR) as Kolhi scored his 37th IPL half-century and played a decisive knock of 72 runs off 53 balls.

With this innings, Kohli crossed Suresh Raina and became the highest run-getter in the Indian Premier League history. Raina who was leading the table with 5368 runs missed this season due to personal reasons. Virat currently leads the chart with 5502* runs to his name in the IPL.

Kohli has scored 5502 runs in 181 matches for the RCB with a decent average of 37.68. He has scored 37 half-centuries and 5 tons with his highest score being 113.

Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh said ‘form is temporary and class is permanent’ after Virat Kohli’s dominating performance against RR. Little master Sachin Tendulkar also expressed his happiness after watching Kohli back in runs.

RCB has now won three out of four games in IPL 2020 and sits at the top of the IPL 2020 points table with 6 points.

Bangalore take on Delhi Capital in their next encounter on 5th October.
