“Ben Simmons would be more valuable to you than Anthony Davis” – Skip Bayless has some trade advice for the Lakers
Anthony Davis and Ben Simmons
Anthony Davis is yet to have a pleasant season since the 2019-20 championship-winning season. He missed half of the previous regular season due to his injuries. This year, he has already missed 6 games and will miss many more as he remains sidelined with the MCL injury.
This off-season, Davis put a lot of work into his fitness. He even got a new trainer to look after his conditioning for an 82-game season. So far, it hasn’t paid dividends. Skip Bayless comes down hard on the injury-riddled Anthony Davis. The 8x NBA All-star is currently out for about 4 weeks owing to an MCL injury.

AD not as healthy as Ben Simmons: Skip Bayless
Skip quoted “Ben Simmons is 3+ years younger than Anthony Davis. [Ben Simmons] had to miss the first year, but he’s been pretty healthy. AD is not relatively healthy, it’s always something with him. So, if you want a basketball player, I suggest Ben Simmons right now would be more valuable to you than Anthony Davis”.
Ben Simmons is currently involved in a trade dispute with his team Philadelphia 76ers.

Anthony Davis is a Type-B to me: Skip Bayless
Skip further said “They talk about Type-A’s, he feels like a Type-B to me, who wants no part of being the alpha of this team.
Skip also felt that Anthony Davis has become complacent after winning his championship ring, calling him ‘semi-retired’. Skip compared Anthony Davis to his New Orleans stint and his 1st-year with the Lakers and concluded that he isn’t the same anymore.
Skip high on Simmons and Grant to the Lakers
Skip recommends the Lakers to pursue Ben Simmons or Jerami Grant and is even okay getting rid of Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis. Skip calls Jerami Grant a ‘big upgrade’ to the Lakers team. Skip also called out LeBron saying that the Lakers are ‘stuck with Russ’ and “it’s on LeBron”.
The Lakers owe Russell Westbrook a total of $91 million over the next two years. So, the Lakers can save themselves this payment to Westbrook as his salary by trading him.
Is Westbrook hurting the Lakers?
Westbrook is into the 14th season of his career playing for his hometown team. He is posting decent numbers but is not being able to impact the game. The playmaking and facilitating fast-break points, which Westbrook is known for, are missing this season.
Despite having all these problems, a trade of either Westbrook or Anthony Davis looks highly unlikely.
