Bill Belichick and his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, recently trolled the Atlanta Falcons. Hudson wore a T-shirt from Super Bowl LI between the New England Patriots and the Falcons, a reminder of one of the greatest comebacks in NFL history.

Belichick may no longer be part of the Patriots, but his contributions to the franchise are undeniable. He led the Boston franchise to eight Super Bowl appearances, winning six times.

On Friday, Belichick’s girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, shared a photo wearing a T-shirt with ‘Atlanta Falcons Super Bowl Champions’ on social media. But as memory serves, the Falcons never won a Super Bowl, and Hudson shares no affiliation with franchise-based Georgia. Then what’s the reason behind wearing it?

Why did Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson troll the Atlanta Falcons?

Hudson was basically trolling the Falcons with her humor. Back in the 2016-17 season, the Patriots and the Falcons played in Super Bowl LI at NRG Stadium in Texas.

The Falcons quarterback, Matt Ryan, threw three touchdown passes while they intercepted a pass from Tom Brady to take a 28-3 lead at halftime. No NFL team had ever made a comeback and won a game with such a deficit in playoffs, let alone a Super Bowl game, but it changed on that night.

It took the Patriots eight minutes to shake off the rust from their bones by scoring their first touchdown of the tie. Then a fumble from Ryan cost them more points. Brady threw two more touchdown passes during garbage time to secure a historic 34-28 comeback win.

Although the game took place eight years ago, fans still speak and joke about it to this day. Usually, Falcon fans are on the receiving end of such trolls because their team blew the chance to win their first Super Bowl (second appearance since 1998).

Falcons aren’t exactly famous as regular postseason threats. The organization has only reached the playoffs just once since their famous Super Bowl run.

Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson joined in on the trolling by wearing a T-shirt that read ‘Atlanta Falcons Super Bowl Champions.’

It’s probably part of the rejected line of clothing that the Falcons prepared to celebrate their win. It never happened, so they gave it away like the Kansas City Chiefs. After losing the Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Chiefs donated their ‘Super Bowl LIX Champions’ clothing to people in Africa and Eastern European countries.

That win was hard to process for Bill Belichick

It’s not often a team beats the odds to score 34 points after trailing by 28 in the first half. Most teams give up and concede more points, but not the Patriots.

Brady is considered the most clutch player ever to play the game of football. If he was on the field, the Patriots always had a chance of pulling off a miracle.

The result of the fixture was a hard pill to swallow for both the Falcons and the Patriots. Even Belichick wasn’t sure if it was true or not.

When I got back to the hotel, the game happened to be on in my hotel room. It was about the start of the third quarter, and I said, you know what, I need to sit down and watch this and make sure we still won it, because maybe that was just a dream.

The 28-3 scoreline became an icon, an enigma, etched into the minds of every football fan. The Falcons’ fans drew the short end of the stick. They still face trolls for that fateful night in Houston.

Belichick later interviewed for the vacant job in Atlanta after his tenure with the Patriots ended in 2023. The Falcons rejected the 72-year-old twice before he ditched the NFL and signed up as the head coach of the University of North Carolina football team.
