Vitali Klitschko retired from boxing in the year 2012 and ran for elections becoming a mayor of the city of Kyiv in 2014. In the recent war between Russia and Ukraine, several sports personalities have stepped up to defend their country’s honor and safety against the brutal attacks from their neighbor. The Klitschko brothers have been going viral for their efforts on the battlegrounds.

Vitali was asked about the current situation in the city of Kyiv amid the bombings from Russia and the Ukrainian boxer was more frank than ever. When a news reporter asked Klitschko if the claims from Vladimir Putin were true of Russia only targeting military sites, Klitschko gave a stunning reply. “Bullsh*t! Where is military targets?” he asked as he points to the destruction surrounding him in the city. “This building is military target?”

“The people don’t want to leave,” Vitali Klitschko gives an update on the spirit of the Ukrainian people

Both the Klitschko brothers have publicly said that they are ready to fight in the war. They have since then actively been defending their country’s honor. Vitali, who is the mayor of the city, of Kyiv also has been welcoming of media and press to make sure they spread the news all over the world.

In an exclusive interview with SkySports, the Klitschko brother spoke about the spirit of the people living in the city. Despite several damages done to the country, the Ukrainians are adamant about staying in their home and fighting the war irrespective of the outcome. “We see the result of the bombing and the civilian people are dying. The spirit right now everyone is angry. I talk to the people and they don’t want to leave,” said the former champion talking to SkySports.

“This has brought much more energy to everyone and everyone understands they don’t want to leave. We want to defend our city and we want to defend our houses”
