DJ Khaled is one of the most eminent music personalities in the world – however, despite having experienced all the luxuries that the world possibly has to offer, it seems a moment that he would have prized as a child had a larger effect on him.
DJ Khaled recently travelled to Mecca, in Saudi Arabia, with legendary pugilist Mike Tyson – this comes as no surprise as Tyson, who has made spirituality his go-to after his menacingly successful boxing career, made the accompanying trip with the rapper.
In the post that DJ Khaled put up, it seemed like whereas Mike Tyson was engrossed in performing the Umrah in front of Kaaba, the rapper could not hide the emotion from his eyes, as he looked up at the ancient religious structure with fond devotion. In an Instagram post that capitulated their trip, the rapper wroter, “The second I walked in Mecca tears came down my eyes Tears of joy, my whole life I wanted to go to MECCA… It so beautiful we all ONE LOVE here ?? GOD DID !!!!!!! Bless up my brother @miketyson.”
Well, it seems like DJ Khaled finally got to live out his dream of travelling to the centre stay in the Islamic world, and offered Umrah. That being said, their reason for visiting Kabaa in Mecca wasn’t only to offer their prayers – they are both attending the Red Sea Festival in Saudi Arabia.
Did Mike Tyson convert to Islam?

The obvious question on fans’ lips would be why Mike Tyson visited Mecca, given he has a Christian name. The truth of the matter is that back in 1992, he converted to Islam, when he hit a huge stumbling block in life. Despite the vicious knockouts and disheartening defeats in his fights, including against Buster Douglas, a stint in prison gave Tyson the chance to make his peace with God, which he attempted after conversion.
Hence, the former world heavyweight champion’s visit to the Kaaba should not come as a surprise to anyone. In recent times, Mike Tyson has given an increasing sense of awareness to achieving peace through divine attunement and faith, and his trip to Mecca would have just fortified this practice.
Boxing fans are used to seeing the iconic fighter’s exploits within the cage – however, after a life teetering on the edge with violence, some of it regulated and some of it not, it seems like Mike Tyson is moving towards tranquillity as the basis of his life. Going forward, expect to see way more of this side of his to showcase itself, more than have seen over the last decade or so.
