Anthony Joshua is at a point in his career where he either has to make big changes or risk the sport passing him by. After his most recent loss against Oleksandr Usyk, Joshua undoubtedly has some changes to make in his training however, he was more effective as a fighter in their second outing than their first clash at Wembley.
This was an observation made by his trainer, Robert Garcia. Garcia has previously stated that despite his most recent loss to Usyk, Joshua can still go toe to toe with the top heavyweights like Deontay Wilder, Derek Chisora, and even Tyson Fury.
However, for this, he has a big ask from Joshua and he has not always been very receptive to this request. Coach Garcia, who runs his gym in California wants the Olympics Gold Medalist to train a significant portion of his fight camps in the states.

Joshua has adamant about training in the UK with one reason being that he feels grounded when he trains in the same country where it all started for him. However, Coach Garcia feels that it is necessary to do so at this point in his career so as to have a better gauge of his competition.
Talking to Izquierdazo Box, Garcia told about his choice to want Joshua’s training in the states saying, “I told Anthony and his team that the best way to keep working together is if he comes to train in my gym in California eight weeks before a fight. I told Anthony, ‘I need you to be around more fighters, for competition.'”
Garcia further explained his decision saying that he felt Joshua was very close to winning the fight until he let the opportunity slip away. He said, “In round 9 we tightened up, and almost closed the fight, when he got stronger in hitting the body, and putting a little more pressure. (If he had) two or three rounds earlier then maybe it would have been a different result.”

Garcia is however optimistic about his pupil’s future as Eddie Hearn discussed with Garcia over a return back to action by November as Joshua himself wanted to make a quick turn around and “Not get stuck like a loser“
His next fight will be the first time since 2014 that Joshua will enter the ring without his titles for the second consecutive time. Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn has said that despite the second loss to Usyk, Joshua still has a very good chance to regain his belts while having lucrative fights along the way.
