Floyd Mayweather is said to be one of the greatest boxers of all time. Amassing a reported net worth of over a billion dollars, he is often applauded for his defensive skills in the ring. Being an undefeated fighter is part of Floyd’s legacy. However, the 46-year-old is often made fun of for his inability to read. As good as a boxer Floyd is, ‘Money’ is not a master when it comes to the English language. He can often be witnessed mispronouncing words in interviews.
His inability to read has often been brought to light. Although the boxer has never responded to these allegations, fans point and laugh at the fighter every chance they get. One among them is the popular New York rapper 50 Cent. The 47-year-old was once a close friend of the boxer. However, due to Floyd Mayweather‘s arrest and money problems, the duo had a falling out. This prompted the boxer to call out 50 Cent in interviews and talk shows.
Upon witnessing this, the rapper uploaded a video challenging Mayweather to read a ‘Harry Potter’ book. The challenge was a substitute for the famous ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’ that was popular in 2014. “This a special ASL ELS challenge, for you Floyd. If you could read one full page of a Harry Potter book, I’ll give 750,000 to whatever charitable organization you want to,” challenged 50 Cent to Floyd Mayweather.
This video became an instant classic among boxing fans. When Mayweather is involved in a mishap, they immediately go on to reference the now-infamous video. This has not changed as fans recently recall the classic and call out the 46-year-old retired boxer on Twitter.
Fans recall the infamous rivalry between Floyd Mayweather and 50 Cent
On Twitter, a popular trend took place that had users sharing a ‘historic battle.’ The users quote tweet an image of two entities that have had a rivalry, or in this case, a ‘battle.’ In an unexpected turn of events, one fan posted an image of Floyd Mayweather alongside a Harry Potter book. This was in reference to the call out by 50 Cent. Upon witnessing the viral tweet, fans took the opportunity to mock ‘Money’s inability to read. One fan went on to tweet, “I would still pay good money to see him read one page. I genuinely feel like he couldn’t do it. ?“
The one-sided beat down from 50 Cent to Floyd Mayweather was a ‘historic battle’ that fans would not let go of. To this day, the 46-year-old boxer is yet to respond to these allegations or accept the challenge issued by the rapper. Regardless, Mayweather is arguably the best technical fighter that the sport had to offer and there is no denying of this fact among fans.
