Jermell Charlo and Canelo Alvarez clashed together at an undisputed clash at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Furthermore, Alvarez was able to win the bout after securing a unanimous decision victory after 12 rounds. Alvarez had delivered several consecutive underwhelming performances, especially after his loss against Dmitry Bivol, which was his second loss.
In addition, he had surgery after suffering an injury to his left arm, which affected his boxing skills. Subsequently, Alvarez was highly motivated to show his skills to Charlo after the latter undermined him as a boxer. The Mexican boxer proved his doubters and Charlo wrong after his skillful performance in the fight.
After Alvarez’s victory, he was called out by Chris Eubank Jr., who is interested in fighting the Mexican boxing star. Subsequently, before the Alvarez vs. Charlo bout, Eubank stated that the ‘money fight’ for him would be a fight against Canelo Alvarez. Furthermore, after the latter’s victory, Eubank said, “This sh** is getting embarrassing. I don’t want a hug… I want that scalp!”
Many boxers, like Terence Crawford, have criticized Jermell Charlo’s performance against Canelo Alvarez. They felt that Charlo wasn’t aggressive enough. Eubank has also criticized Charlo’s performance and stated that Canelo should fight someone who wants to win instead of surviving.
Furthermore, Chris Eubank believes that he can give Canelo Alvarez a competitive fight and push him to the limit with his skills. However, Alvarez is currently planning to avenge his loss against Bivol and might not fight Eubank anytime soon.
Carl Froch talks about Chris Eubank Jr. challenging Canelo Alvarez
Chris Eubank Jr. was able to get his revenge by winning his rematch against Liam Smith via 10th-round stoppage. After his victory, Eubank issued passionate challenges to his rival Conor Benn and the former champion Kell Brook. Eubank’s fight with Benn has a lot of significance because their fathers, Chris Eubank and Nigel Benn, were rivals during their prime.
Furthermore, Eubank and Benn were supposed to fight in October 2022, but Benn got banned after failing a drug test. In addition, Benn has been allowed to continue boxing by the WBC, and Nigel has issued a challenge to Eubank. However, the latter is more interested in securing a higher pay day than fulfilling a generational rivalry feud.
Former professional boxer Carl Froch has stated that this matchup is a complete disaster and that “Canelo would smash Eubank to bits; as soon as he gets in range, he’ll absolutely maul him.” (H/T: Best Gambling Sites)
Furthermore, Froch compared Eubank and Alvarez fighting in the Saturday League, challenging the Premier League. He stated that Eubank isn’t ready for a top world-class boxer. Subsequently, Froch mentioned that Canelo’s size and strength would be a challenge that Eubank cannot overcome.
