“Couldn’t score a KO” Fans react to Canelo Alvarez’s 12-round domination over Gennady Golovkin in their trilogy fight

Canelo out landed GGG for the first time in their three fights

Canelo Alvarez has put a definite nail in the coffin for his rivalry against GGG. The two middleweights have been going at since their first bout in 2017, which ended in a draw. After a second close fight, Canelo managed to walk out with a scorecard victory but many seemed to disagree.

Now after almost 4 years since their second fight, both met in the ring to complete their trilogy. At 40 years of age, GGG seemingly had nothing to offer except his granite chin. He was outclassed by Alvarez since the starting bell. While GGG would find success in the later rounds it would be nothing to compensate for the early round blunders.

Now at 4 while many have called for his retirement GGG has stated he intends to continue. The only two losses on his record now come from Canelo. Alvarez on the other hand has said he intends to move back up in weight and avenge his loss to Dimitri Bivol.

While fans expected better, they were content in seeing a definite end to this rivalry. Criticism was also thrown Canelo’s way for not being able to finish a fighter, clearly out of his prime. Many others felt it was high time for GGG to retire, considering this was the first fight in their trilogy where Canelo out landed GGG, that too by a very wide margin.

Criticism was also directed towards the judges for constantly showing up with bizarre scorecards. Surprisingly, Michael B Jordan who was there to promote his new movie, Creed 3, a movie Canelo’s in, was also targetted
