“That’s not cool” – Floyd Mayweather once went on a never ending rant against Muhammad Ali
Since its existence, the sport of boxing has given the world some amazing fighters. While countless boxers have left their mark on the sport, Floyd Mayweather is one name that will surely be remembered when it comes to remembering the greatest of all time. Since his debut, Mayweather had both the skills and charisma to be a great.
A bronze medalist in the 1996 Atalanta Olympics, Floyd Mayweather made his professional boxing debut in the same year. Since then, Mayweather went on to amass a professional record of 50-0. ‘Money’ has won fifteen world titles and holds notable victories over the likes of Canelo Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya, and Manny Pacquiao to name a few.
While his stats are enough to put up a formidable argument about him being the greatest of all time, ESPN had a different choice to the same. Muhammad Ali came out on top of ESPN’s list of the top five greatest boxers of all time. Despite many agreeing with ESPN, Mayweather did not take this lightly and went on a rant.

Floyd Mayweather placed himself about Muhammad Ali
Among the many sporting icons to have graced the world, Muhammad Ali was arguably the most influential. A strong and swift boxer inside the ring, Ali had a charismatic personality which was loved by many. While many regard him as ‘The Greatest of All Time,’ Floyd Mayweather had a different opinion.
During an interview, Mayweather seemed to go on a rant against Ali. He said, “If we’re judging fighters on taking less punishment and breaking records, then it’s (the greatest ever) Floyd Mayweather. “The name of the game is to hit and not get hit. It’s not about taking punishment. I love Ali, but sitting on the ropes, taking punishment, that’s not cool.”
The undefeated boxer concluded by saying, “I have to take my hat off to Ali. But I didn’t give this sport 40 years to say that there’s another fighter better than me.”
