“I can beat Haney”- George Kambosos Jr activated his rematch clause to avenge his loss against Devin Haney
George Kambosos Jr. vs Devin Haney
George Kambosos is fully utilizing his rematch clause, which permits him to face Devin Haney once more. Earlier this month, the Australian was severely defeated by Haney, relinquishing the world title he famously won from Teofimo Lopez last year.
Kambosos had the home edge against Haney because the fight was held in Melbourne, but the unbeaten American dominated throughout and won a unanimous decision on the scorecards.
Many in the sport anticipated Kambosos to take a different path back to the top, but the former champion is eager to rematch Haney. He tells in an interview with NewsCorp, “The rematch is happening, 100%. I’ve activated the rematch clause. The Emperor is dead, but Ferocious is still alive and I will be back…This is my destiny to show how great I am and get those belts back. I know I can beat Haney.”
David Haney, defeated Kambosos to earn the WBC, WBA (Super), IBF, and WBO lightweight belts. He too agreed to fly to Melbourne for the first fight, and while a venue for the rematch has yet to be determined, Kambosos has stated that it would most likely take place in Australia.

Australian George Kambosos Jr loses world lightweight titles to Devin Haney
Devin Haney defeated George Kambosos in a unanimous decision to win the four-belt era’s first undisputed lightweight champion. The American dominated the fight in front of a raucous, pro-Kambosos crowd at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium, owing mostly to his jab.
The Kambosos had a few moments that had the audience on their feet, but it was mostly a Haney clinic. It was all too much for Kambosos in the end, as he simply couldn’t generate any offensive momentum. Following the announcement of the decision, Kambosos personally handed over his belts to the 23-year-old rising superstar.
