In 1974, the heavyweight boxing match between George Foreman and Muhammad Ali was postponed for a month after Foreman’s eye was cut during a sparring session. The delay allowed Foreman time to recover from his injury and ensured both fighters were in optimal condition for their fight. Ali knocked out Foreman in the eighth round and reclaimed the world heavyweight title. Now in 2024, Alalshikh announced May 18 as the new date for the fight.

Tyson Fury got a cut on his face above his right eye during a sparring session with MMA fighter Argon Smakici. The cut required 15 stitches and forced Fury to postpone his fight. The fight is the first undisputed heavyweight championship fight in over 20 years. All four of the division’s belts are on the line. Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will fight at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
