“He’s in hiding” – Jake Paul continues tirade on Dana White and promises to create a fighters’ union with Anderson Silva
Jake Paul (L), Dana White (R)
Jake Paul has exercised his right to shut his critics up once again with his actions, after his win over another MMA icon. However, the magnitude of his wins and the talk that ensues just keeps growing bigger.
Last night, he beat one of the greatest mixed martial artists in Anderson Silva. The difference between this win and his previous wins over Tyron Woodley is that while the latter is primarily a wrestler, Silva’s base for success in the UFC was built on his exquisite striking. With another win over a former UFC champion, it can surely be said that Dana White has been antagonized further.
The two (Paul and White) have been at loggerheads ever since the pugilist arrived on the scene as a bonafide boxer, with the latter doubting his credentials, and the former targeting the UFC president’s alleged exploitation of his fighters – with pay being the centre of the argument.
Now, after Jake Paul’s scintillating win, he has come out to trade barbs with Dana White once again. In his post-fight press conference, he said, “Dana, Dana, Dana… You said I wouldn’t do this, and I did it, and, with flying colours. He’s in hiding. He’s trying to do everything he can to stop my run, to sabotage my fights. He hates me.”

Jake Paul and Anderson Silva made a vow to start a fighters’ union if the latter lost
Jake Paul has a history of placing stunning bets with his opponents. Last time out, against Tyron Woodley, he bet the former UFC champion to get his name tattooed on his body if he won. This time around, he did place a bet with Silva, albeit, one with a good cause behind it.
According to the bet, if Paul lost the fight, he would have fought Silva in a kickboxing bout. Now that we know that option is ruled out, the second half of the belt is what can actually materialize. Jake Paul offered the deal to Silva to form a unified fighters’ association with him if he lost. The Brazilian got beaten by Paul, so we can see this come to fruition. If it does, then the biggest naysayer of a fighters’ union, Dana White, might have much to say.
Speaking about this bet at the post fight presser, Paul said, “We’re going to band together and create a united fighters’ association, to help UFC, MMA fighters and boxers to get more fighter pay, long term healthcare.”
Dana White and the UFC have been the target of MMA fighters (both active and retired) at the lopsided pay hierarchy. If something like this were to materialize, we could see a newer generation of MMA and fighting. In particular, one that is ushered in by the much “disliked’’ Jake Paul.
