Mike Tyson in JetBlue Airline Punching a Fan

After a violent outburst of anger by Mike Tyson on a JetBlue flight, for very justifiable reasons, late in April many fans were concerned that Tyson, who had been able to set his life on the course might have to deal with facing criminal charges again.

Tyson, who assaulted a man seated behind him on the flight could be seen being constantly taunted by a clearly intoxicated passenger. Today everyone on Tyson’s team can breathe a sigh of relief as it appears neither the man nor Tyson wants to take this matter any further.

Tyson, 55, was traveling by a JetBlue flight late last April when he was seated ahead of a drunk fan. In eyewitness videos of the incident, the fan can be seen repeatedly taunting the former heavyweight Champion, even looking at the camera filming him while screaming “peasants, peasants.”

According to Tyson’s team, the situation intensified when the fan threw a bottle at Tyson, prompting him to turn around and repeatedly punch the unruly passenger.

Tyson, for the first time, spoke about this incident on his podcast, he explained what happened in great detail. “He was f*****g with me, Tyson said. “I took pictures with this n****. I shouldn’t even be taking public planes. My wife gets mad when I take public planes. What am I going to do on a f*****g plane with my friends and [a bodyguard] he’s supposed to watch me? A bodyguard and a f*****g yes man. What am I gonna do on a plane?” (H/T The Sun.com)

The District Attorney for the San Mateo county spoke about the incident, and said, “The conduct of the victim leading up to the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the victim, as well as the requests of both the victim and Mr. Tyson” leading to no charges being filed against the youngest Heavyweight champion in history.

While Tyson’s team said that the spark that lit up Tyson’s actions was a bottle thrown at the former boxer, the fan’s attorney claimed that there was no bottle thrown but did accept that his client was “Overly Excited” which led to the violent reprisal from Tyson. He has also said that his client never wished to take the matter to court.
