The Origin of YouTube boxing
The whole YouTube boxing concept started in February 2018 when British YouTubers KSI and Joe Weller decided to give their online beef a step up by facing off inside the boxing ring. After KSI beat Joe Weller via. TKO in the third round of their amateur boxing fight, was awarded the YouTube Boxing Championship belt.
At the post-fight interview, KSI called out American YouTuber Logan Paul for a boxing contest, and the popularity of YouTube boxing grew in leaps and bounds. KSI and Logan played out a draw in their first fight. At the same time, KSI’s brother and Logan’s brother fought in an amateur fight. Logan’s brother Jake Paul beat KSI’s brother Deji via. TKO (corner stoppage).
KSI and Logan rematched a year later in November 2019. This time it was a professional boxing fight. KSI won the fight via. unanimous decision. From there the Paul brothers began taking boxing seriously. They decided to take it up as a full-time career.
Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul: How it all started?
The Paul brothers began training vigorously. Jake Paul, made his pro-boxing debut in January 2020, and by the end of the year he was 2-0 up in his pro-boxing career. In the wake of this Logan Paul and Floyd Mayweather agreed to a fight on the 6th of December, for a contest scheduled for February 20, 2021.
Despite all the ruckus, with people aiming jibes at Mayweather for stooping so low, the fight was confirmed. However, due to the business side of things, the fight scheduled on the 20th of February was postponed indefinitely.
Two months later, it was confirmed that the pair will be fighting on the 6th of June at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. And now, the whole boxing community is all set to witness the return of their hero Floyd Mayweather.
