“Whyte has a great chance”- Bob Arum believes Dillian Whyte can give Tyson Fury a harder fight than Deontay Wilder

Tyson Fury’s quest to become undisputed boxing heavyweight champion is on hold for now. As he will not face Oleksandr Usyk next, instead he will get to face Dillian Whyte (28-2) his mandatory title defense.

Bob Arum has reacted to the news of Fury vs Whyte and the 41 million purse bid. Arum, when talking about how the fight could play out, believed Whyte has a better chance of beating the Gypsy king than Deontay Wilder, one of the hardest hitters in boxing history.

Fury has long wanted to face Anthony Joshua, but Joshua seems to hose way too many fights per boxing standard. Usyk beat Joshua after Joshua had just bounced back from Ruiz’s loss. The fight to make was Fury versus Usyk, but both the fighters had their hands full. Fury has Whyte to deal with whereas Usyk has to do the Joshua rematch if Joshua wants the fight.

Arum said, “Whyte has a great chance because he’s a big, big puncher. He’s a very rugged heavyweight, a very experienced heavyweight. If anything, he poses a bigger danger to Tyson than even Deontay Wilder did.”

The Heavyweight fight with two fighters from the UK going to compete in front of their home crowd is a perfect recipe for one of the biggest fights in UK boxing history. Fury with 31 wins and Whyte with 28 wins will look to unify the WBC HW belt.

Tyson Fury is on a quest to get all the belts and fight all the best fighters in this generation. He wants to beat all the best fighters of his era. And to do so, he came to America and first took on Wilder, and then eyed a fight against another UK fighter, Joshua. But Joshua has not full-filled his end of the bargain and had a few led downs.

Fury will look to get past Usyk, and then maybe finally we could see the fight to unify all the championships at HW.
